Pro-Galgo are so inundated with appeals for help with galgos and caring for the ones they already have that they have not had time to update their English website. But you can read the latest stories with babelfish translation into English here. To see what the dogs suffer, to see what the volunteers cope with……..say a prayer for them all to have the strength to get through each day. And the end of the hunting season is only 6 weeks away!!!

Support SARA Lanzarote tomorrow, 12th December. They say ‘Why not come and visit our car boot sale at Tahiche Garden Centre which takes place on the second Saturday of every month. This has now become the largest and most popular boot sale/market on the island.’
So, if you are holidaying on Lanzarote, or living out there for the winter, go along and support them.

Spain’s rubbish – innocents sentenced to die – crime, being born a galgo in Spain!
Hey, folks. See what’s in Spain’s rubbish bin! You’ll see the one on the right has a swollen front right paw. Obviously injured or infected, so thrown by the galguerro on the scrap heap, like a cigarette end. I curse you, galguerro, and all your family, for the rest of your lives.

Holidays in Spain for winter? Stay at Mairena – see the real Spain!
I have received the following appeal on behalf of Karmela for the dogs in Mairena perrera, condemned to be starved for 3 weeks before being euthanaised. If anyone can support her, please do. With donations, she can put the dogs into kennels so they can have their EU passport prepared.
Bonjour,
Karmela a publié une mise à jour de chiens emprisonnés à la perrera de Mairena! Pouvez-vous l’aider? Il y a des galgos mais aussi des chiots!!!!!!!!!Ce n’est pas leur place!

3rd Fiesta de Galgos – a great success – watch the video
The galgos’ great friend Charl organised her 3rd Fiesta de Galgos last weekend. Here’s the link to read the report and see a video. She says the great crowd pulled was a childrens’ fashion show accompanied by galgos, to the tune of Chiquita. Well done, Charl.

The True Spain Exposed – What You Won’t See on Your Xmas Holidays!
In trying to track down if anyone knew who the hunters were – by name etc – who had these dogs packed in this trailer, or had vehicle registration numbers, I have been given the link to this site. It’s in German but if you click on ‘Translate’ you will be able to read about the way the galguerros keep their dogs – this is the REAL Spain! -
Greyhound Racing in the Philippines – Letter from the President
Further to the campaign which was organised to protest against the proposal to introduce greyhound racing in the Philippines, I have today received a letter from the Office of the President – dated 28 September!
‘Dear Mrs Brennan
On behalf of Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, we would like to acknowledge your letter expressing your views relative to greyhound racing.
It is worthy to note that a foreign-born citizen like you finds time to communicate her opinion and campaign for the protection of animals.

Has anyone rescued these dogs from Mairena? Please let us know
Anna Clements of SOS Galgos is desperately seeking news of these dogs from Mairena. This is what she says.‘Just wanted to keep you updated about the Mairena galgos since we have been up to our eyeballs in confusion about their aid. We have rescued ref 115, ref, 190, ref 186 and ref 117 (115 and 117 are the ones that appear on the frontpage of the article on your website) and they are here in forever homes in Barcelona.
We need your help in clarifying whether any groups have taken any of the 6 of the 7 galgos in the main photo where they all appear together, as I asked Puri of Cuenca animal who have taken 11 (she has sent me the photos of each one of these 11 galgos), but none of them are any of the 6 that appear in the photo in question (I say 6 because we got the 7th here which is ref 186, the one lying down that’s on the right).

SOS Galgos on American TV
SOS Galgos recently featured on American TV. Here’s the link to watch it.
The stats are startling. Roughly 52 million dogs live with families in the U.S., but the economy is sending more and more out on the street or into shelters. In fact, eight million dogs are taken to the pound each year and six million will be euthanized.
Now, two women are making it their mission to find Fido a new home.
Cindy Smith is on a mission, a rescue mission.

Spain – Third World Country – enforce Animal Protection Laws NOW!
This is Spain, a Third World Country, Despeñaperros (Jaén), please look also to the vanSome days ago, this shot was taken in the Spanish province of Jaén. No, it’s not China or some of these so called developing nations, this is Spain.
These dogs are brought this way to the hunting and for sure they haven’t had anything to eat since days, so they pursue the bag with more wildness.
May we also say, that in Spain there is no animal torture? May we say that we are a “First World Country”?
Or should we better say we are a Third World Country.
Enforce Animal Defense Laws NOW!
