I took her to the vet and it was discovered she had cancer and it could not be treated. Norway to ban import of ‘street dogs’ from 1 July 2018
The Norwegian Defra, Mattilsynet, just released a statement re import of dogs, what they call “street dogs”, defines as dogs from shelters/rescues, dogs without owners, dogs with unknown background. This is very sad news as many UK greyhounds and Spanish podencos are adopted there.Main points:
1. These dogs will no longer be legal to commercially import.
2. As a private person, you must be able to document that the dog have been owned by you, and lived with you, for minimum 6 months before entering Norway.Bascially, this means it is no longer possible to adopt/import a rescue dog from over seas effective from the 1st July 2018

Changes at the Greyhound Health Initiative
We’ve made some changes! In April we finalized a couple of important staffing changes and we want you, our dedicated supporters, to hear about them before we announce them in our upcoming Newsletter in June. Our Founder, Dr. Guillermo Couto, has decided to step down as President of The Greyhound Health Initiative. After serving four consecutive years of his 2-year term we have agreed that his time would be better spent doing what he does best: seeing patients, researching and teaching. This does not mean he is leaving GHI. He will continue to advise our new President, Tina Kelly, and will remain involved in all other GHI activities, though he will primarily focus on education, consultations, and the blood bank. We are excited to give him the opportunity to focus on what he is most passionate about.

Who knows what goes through the mind of a dog when either another family pet, or a family member, dies? My animals (including my horse when his mate died) get depressed, sleep a lot, go off their food.
