An desperate appeal from Galgos de La Mancha
URGENT HELP NEEDED – WE ARE ABOUT TO CLOSE!!! GALGOS OF SPAIN NEED YOUR HELP!! €5, €10… Anything helps us! Write to us and join our whatsapp group of collaborators.
Hunting season is over and we have an avalanche of greyhounds! Lots of animals on the street, in the kennels and waiting to get into our shelter. We don’t have the capacity or resources to pick up more animals. Debts and expenses suffocate us!!! Many partners, godparents and teamers rates have been disappearing little by little and our accounts are not maintained.
We are looking for companies that want to collaborate with our association
WE NEED TO OPERATE A HIP AND PAY OFF VETINARY DEBT! WE PAY RENT FOR THE SHELTER!
WE NEED COLLABORATION! PARTNERS, FOLKS, TEAMERS, DONATIONS, FOSTER HOMES, ADOPTIONS…. DON’T LEAVE US ALONE.
From Animal Rescue Spain.
‘Aitana has just arrived and is trembling with terror. She is a galgo like so many others, a waste of the hunt. How to explain to her that our Spanish politicians have ignored this suffering? That, as she is a hunting greyhound, she will not have rights like the rest of the dogs in the new Spanish Animal Protection Law, that dogs like her can continue to be mistreated with total impunity… Help us to continue fighting for them with a donation.

It all comes down to money – billions of Euros in the Spanish government pocket from hunting!
From Bev Farmer of Podenco Friends
‘9th February 2023 was a black day for animal welfare in Spain, the Government signed an agreement where both parties promised dignity for all animals. In what will be the ” National Animal Protection Act” the animal welfare law was passed but have excluded the bulls tortured at bull festivities, the millions of animals riddled by hunters, the ones used for animal testing, the ones considered production, such as executed in slaughterhouses, some horses, those used in pilgrimages, dolphins and hunting dogs. What this means Podencos and Galgos plus many other animals in Spain, are not protected they are in a worse position than before.
Lucy Murphy recently spent a week volunteering at Protectora Scooby shelter in Medina Del Campo.
Hi all, I just thought I’d share some film of my time at Scooby!! What an amazing place!! The staff and volunteers there are fantastic, I highly recommend going to help out whenever you can!!
And a video of Scooby dogs marching for Day of the Galgo 1 February.
They say out there, that greyhounds dream their whole life with a life to come, they dream their home, their family, every place, and that dream helps them to be able to get through their reality of abuse and torture. Many make it and others get left in the way.. So when a greyhound comes to your life is not that you have chosen but he dreams.
The end of the hunt comes and with it the end of their lives or the release of others.
Over a year we collect many dogs, but the vast majority are hunting dogs, especially greyhounds and podencos. It is very painful to see how they arrive with their souls totally shattered, atrocious fear and utter distrust for human, not to mention the physical wounds. Dogs that pee and defecate on you when you look into their eyes… We can’t imagine what they’ve had to go through.
This story from Refugio Kimba about galga x Sena.
Sena, the warrior princess, is looking for a home.
This precious little girl hasn’t had a good life. She’s been chained all her life, she didn’t know anything, just her little house and the shadow of a tree, she couldn’t love more than a meter and a half.
Right now she is in a foster home, she learns very fast, walks very well and is slowly learning more new things. She’s a little timid with other dogs, but she’s learning to play too.
s
She is approximately 8 years old, of which he has not had a normal life, she weighs about 22 kilos. Her time has come, life on the chains is over, now come the soft beds, good food, good walks and love and pampering forever
Animal Rescue Spain is asking for donations.
We have rescued this galgo abandoned in the bones, he was letting himself die, injured, a man found him and the police notified us. Look how skinny he is!! Help us save him with a donation.
BOURDEOS – FRANCE 29th January to support the Cause
Just like in other European countries, thousands of galgos, podencos and other dogs arrive in France every year as victims of hunting in Spain.
Rescued dogs that thanks to their solidarity and generosity await a home where they start a dignified life.
Europe takes to the streets for the rights of our hunting dogs and here in our country, our political class thinks they should stay out of the Animal Protection Act.
THANK YOU FOR BEING THEIR VOICE
SAVE THE DATE: PROTEST MARCH 5 FEBRUARY THE HAGUE
This Sunday, February 5, there will be peaceful demonstrations in Europe for the Spanish hunting dogs in support of the No A La Caza (no hunting) protest organized every year by the Spanish Platforma NAC. In support of these protests, the GalgoPodencoPlatform in the Netherlands is organizing a demonstration in The Hague today.
Like previous years, a peaceful protest march is supposed to be run from the Laan van Reagan and Gorbatsjov in The Hague to the Spanish Embassy to hand over a letter asking for attention and support for the plighted si tutation of the Spanish hunting dogs in Spain. We gather on the lawn at the Laan van Reagan and Gorbatsjov from 12:00 o’clock and there the protest march of about 1.8 km to the Spanish Embassy begins.
