Petition to the European Parliament to ban hunting with galgos. I personally don’t think banning it is the answer as it will simply ‘go underground’ and make it impossible to police, just as hare coursing in the UK was made illegal but it still goes on.

Galgos galore at Pepis Refuge – please help feed them
It’s a nightmare for Jane and Alan Brian at Pepis Refuge in Pedrera, between Malaga and Seville – abandoned and injured and starving galgos and podencos in the olive groves around the refuge. there’s no letup. Jane tells the story. ‘We’ve got an abandoned podenco up the lane from the refuge which they have been feeding for 2 weeks in an effort to catch him, although there’s no room for him because the refuge is full! Last week when we went up the track to feed the Podenco, he was not there…but this lad was…a bag of bones and too weak to put up any resistance. Could we leave him there as we dont have any space left to keep him and an extra mouth to feed on an already overstretched budget….A big fat NO…A small meat dinner and a soft place to lay in the warm sun…and he rested.
Now extra blankets and a warm coat and four more meat dinners, he was settled down for the night.
Now see him on the 2nd photo below, one week on! We’ve named him Callum.’
As well as Callum, look what else they found tied to the refuge gates this week!

Petition – stop Tesco promoting greyhound racing in the UK
Please sign and share widely. How about someone in the UK organising a protest outside a large Tesco store and getting the media involved?

80,000-100,00 galgos a year – discarded like trash by the Spanish galguero!
Another National Geographic Video highlighting the maltreatment and abuse of galgos in Spain. Whilst the larger associations are mentioned, there are many which don’t get such exposure and yet also have many rescued galgos ready for adoption, like Pepis Dog Refuge where unwanted galgos are often left tied at the refuge gates or thrown over the fence which causes injury.

Argentina bans Galgo Racing – but will it be driven underground now?
ARGENTINA BANS GREYHOUND RACING!!!! The measure includes jail terms of up to 4 years and fines for anyone who organizes, participates in or promotes dog races. The petition to the government raised an incredible 409 251 signatures!
The downside of this victory might be that the ‘sport’ will now be driven underground where there will be no control over how races are run and how the dogs are treated, such as happened in the UK when hare coursing was made illegal, and dog fighting.

Bravecto flea & tick treatment chew- is it dangerous? Yes it is!
In June I published a warning about Bravecto Flea and Tick treatment. Horror stories continue to appear on the facebook page – here is another tragic one. Please do not use this product and warn everyone else about it.
‘I lost my 4 year old dog less than 24 hours after his first dose and my other dog who was 3 years old at the time almost died less than 30 hours after his first dose. Two different dogs, two different breeds and the only common denominator to that vet visit for them both was this drug being prescribed.’

Support Project Galgos Argentina, especially on 2nd November 2016
Wednesday 2nd November could be a historic date for greyhounds and galgos in Argentina, where the Chamber of Deputees will be voting for a definitive end to greyhound racing.
The law proposal to ban racing has been promoted by Senator Magdalena Odarda, with the support of Projecto Galgo Argentina, and it has been approved by the Senate and two Parliamentary commissions, the General Legislative Commission and the Penal Commission.
If you are on facebook, then join StopGalgueros and join in this effort. Let’s show the Argentinian Deputees that an immense multitude of people, organisations and groups expect them to make the kind of progressive choice which will make their country proud, and that will make Argentina a trailblazer in terms of compassion and respect for greyhounds and galgos, dogs that in countries which consider themselves civilised are treated ruthlessly and without humanity.
The photos must be published by midday on Tuesday 1st November.
All the photos will be sent to the Argentinian Deputees.
The more we are, the stronger our message will be!If you are not on facebook, then you can sign and share this petition.
PetLevrieri of Italy also support Project Galgo Argentina.

Greyhounds around the Globe Conference – sign the petition
From Christine Dorchak, President of Grey2K USA
I have just returned from the biggest weekend ever for greyhounds! Our Greyhounds Around the Globe conference in Florida brought together advocates from ten countries, all of whom are now committed to working together to help end commercial dog racing in the Sunshine State and worldwide.
Our Delray Beach conference began with the release of our new video by ABC News. We have now exposed the violent collisions, injuries and deaths that greyhounds suffer in Florida each month, particularly at the Palm Beach Kennel Club. In fact, according to state records, a dog dies every three days at a local racetrack! Working together, we mean to change this.
The Greyhounds Around the Globe conferees have now taken our first joint action and on Saturday, we issued a group letter to the leaders of the eight countries with commercial dog racing. Now it’s your turn to help.
