There has been no let up for the volunteers in Spain – every week dozens of galgos end up in perreras for killing – it’s gone on all summer – no let-up. New stories and appeals arrive every day. This is the story of one galga, Eboli. Abandoned by her galguero to take her chance on the busy roads, she was hit by a vehicle and seriously injured. Luckily volunteers from Refugio Kimba of Cadiz, the very first Spanish animal protectora, went out to rescue her, not without risk to their own safety. Galgo Puppy Nelson – saved by SOS Galgos, Barcelona – please help
Here is the story of Nelson, a 4-month old galgo pup, rescued and in the care of SOS Galgos.
Nelson, a galgo puppy needs your help.
Nelson got his name because he is a survivor. We found him at just one month old and almost dead. He had scabies, a broken rib, fractures at femoral, shinbone and calf, as well as osteoporosis due to his dehydration.
His conditions needed an immediate traumatological treatment. We need your help to pay the costs of the emergency aid and postoperative care and as well for possible complications.

Rescued galgas flying the flag in Yorkshire with The Blue Greyhound
Regular readers will know The Blue Greyhound shop on ebay where Susan Dawson raises funds for greyhounds and galgos. Her two galgas were recently chosen as winners of a competition and they were at Bark in the Park last weekend, in east Yorkshire. Here’s what Susan says, and some fabulous photos
The Blue Greyhound had a stall yesterday (17/8/2013) at Bark in the Park, a great show that we attend every year which promotes good dog ownership. Lots of great stalls. It was also a special day for Eli and Cassie who received their Dog Star Awards.

This black beauty is SANTIAGO: a not so very big male 2 years old who was thrown over the fence from the residencia by his ex owner. Thank you coward! Very sweet, beautifull, good with other dogs, playfull and all other good things which galgos have. For adoption.
TIGRESSA needs a family! Rescued by Scooby from the perrera provincial from Valladolid. She is about 6 years young, very, very sweet, quiet, super with other dogs, good on a leash, she is a super dream galga.

Can you help pay for food for Galga Maya and her 4 pups in Malaga
Maya is now safe at 112 Carlota Galgos and is in rehabilitation. Who knows what hell she has been through to leave her so terrified and traumatised. She is now on a long slow road to recovery, but no one will ever know for sure what her life was like on the streets.
Thanks to a wonderful lady Rosemary, her four pups are safe in foster and now have a chance of having a different sort of life from their Mum. They won’t feel pain, terror and hunger on the streets, only love, happiness and safety in the arms of a family. Maya’s four pups are approximately 8 weeks old and have been named Safiy, Brodie, Alisa & Bodie.
