Volunteering at Pepis Dog Refuge – a story
Got some holiday to spare; time at a weekend to run a monthly car boot stall….anything to help Jane and Alan Brian at Pepis. Here’s a message from a recent volunteer, Holly,.‘A big shout out to Jane Brian and Alan who run Pepis Refuge in Pedrera for welcoming me into their doggie family as a volunteer for the past two weeks! It was an amazing and eye opening experience 10/10 recommend to anyone who is a dog lover and wanting to do some good in the world. Jane and Alan are an amazing couple who work so hard everyday to care for all of their dogs and struggle against the cruelty that is inflicted on the dogs by the Spanish and their culture. They need SO MUCH help. If you want to volunteer or donate please contact Pepis Refuge, they would appreciate any help you can give!!’
Galgos currently for adoption at Pepis.

March for the greyhounds in Manchester 30th June 2016
From Caged North West. We are currently liaising with the police, ambulance service, our insurance company and Manchester local authority.
Manchester will be hosting some very large public events on the same day as the March for The Murdered Million, and we have worked very hard to find spaces that will accommodate a gathering of anything up to 500 people, that may attend.
We have advised all involved that this is a funeral themed greyhound remembrance march and will remain respectful throughout.
PLEASE NOTE; THIS IS NOT A PROTEST -
Buy a Scalibor collar for a galgo at Pepis Dog Refuge
The sandfly is rife in the heat of Spain and it carries leishmania from dog to dog. Scalibor collars are desperately needed for the couple of dozen galgos and the 50+ other dogs to protect them from the bites. Buy one or more here.

Galgos 112 – saving the starving from the streets of Jaen, Spain
Unbelievable that this poor galgo even has the strength to stand up. How long can he have gone without food? But he is now safe with Galgos 112. Here’s what they say about him.
‘The years go by but we’re still surprising us by the same things. On the one hand the incredible strength of galgos and hounds, that as soon as they are given a chance they cling to life with a mad desire and exceed that which seemed impossible. On the other hand the indifference with which some humans treat others.
The of the pictures is Cuico, a galgo that was several days wandering in that state for the town in Jaen Martos. It’s getting complicated to understand that being in this state no one offer to help him. Was it not clear that this dog needed help? This indifference to the suffering of others, in Galgos 112 we never get used to it. Never. It’s just that, plain and simple, we don’t want to do it; we don’t want to be indifferent to the pain of others, whoever it is that I’m having a tough time. Had to be Antonio, as always, who saw him and he laid his hand. Because Antonio has the gift of not being able to subtract indifferent to the pain and the abuse, Antonio has that what many brag but not so many times we see: Humanity.

Romford Greyhound Stadium – why greyhound racing should be banned
Why greyhound racing should be banned everywhere. This story is about a track in the UK, Romford Greyhound Stadium. And I was disgusted that on a recent TV programme Catchphrase one of the prizes was an evening at greyhound racing.
