This video was p;ut together by Tina Solera and her friends http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUHVmaUcbSs. The intention is to raise awareness of the maltreatment the dogs of Spain suffer. Tina says ‘My friends did an excellent job and I feel they have definately helped get the message out about what these poor dogs go through. Spain is a wonderful country which I love but without doubt needs more and more eductaion programmes in schools and of course needs to actually start enforcing their laws regarding this animal cruelty.

‘Dear Mrs Brennan

SOS Galgos on American TV
SOS Galgos recently featured on American TV. Here’s the link to watch it.
The stats are startling. Roughly 52 million dogs live with families in the U.S., but the economy is sending more and more out on the street or into shelters. In fact, eight million dogs are taken to the pound each year and six million will be euthanized.
Now, two women are making it their mission to find Fido a new home.
Cindy Smith is on a mission, a rescue mission.

Wastage of Greyhounds – interview with trainer Michael Peterson
‘Ruby For Sale – New Stock Arriving’Clive Ellis – founder member of Greyhound Watch – has written an excellent and extensive article following a series of frank discussions with Michael Peterson, a professional trainer attached to Oxford dog track.
The article catalogues the wastage of greyhounds under Peterson’s ‘care’ and the callous attitude adopted by Peterson – affording these greyhounds, little or no compassion – when pressured by the gambling industry to supply that all important betting medium at the cheapest possible price.

Court confiscates 67 dogs in Spain, read all about it!
Earlier this month, March 2009, dozens of dogs were transported more than 600km from El Cuervo, Sille, to the Scooby Medina at Valladolid.
Thanks to a court order which allowed access to the farm where they were kept in the most unbelievable conditions, these dogs are now in safe hands.
Some weighted only 6 or 7 kilos when they should have weighted between 25-30. Some had to be euthanased at the farm, some may still not survive, and it will take a lot of time and patience to prepare them for possible adoption abroad.
Levriers-en-Danger also assisted in the rescue.
You can read all about it on Scooby Medina and Levriers-en-danger
