Galgo’s Rescue Almeria – small shelter saving the galgos and podencos
I’ve had an appeal for help for this small rescue shelter in Almeria. They have several hounds at the moment needing vet treatment and struggle to raise funds for this. Please take a look at their website and help if you can. Below is a recent arrival desperately needing help.Gitana – this fragile girl arrived at GRA. This girls is under weight ( barely 15kg ) and have some wounds. Unfortunately Gitana tested positive for Leish and Erlichia. A treatment with doxiciclina has been started to treat her Erlichia and for her Leish she is going to need Leishguard, Allopurinol and Milteforan. It’s going to take some while before this fragile girl is ready to go to a new family.
In the meanwhile she is going to get all the treatments necessary to control her Leish. Also she is going to need special food to gain weight. And lots of love to pull her true.
All help is welcome/ needed to support Gitana.

Galgos and Podencos – galgueros deny cruelty to these hounds!
This album is the continuation of this one:
https://www.facebook.com/meva.galpodi.3/media_set…Above all, make it clear that this album did not intend to hurt anyone, nor, of course, morbidly wallow in the terrible hardships and mistreatment of galgos (Spanish greyhounds) and podencos.
After some hesitation, I decided to gather this series of images as a response to all those who deny and conceal this reality, trivialize it by saying that cases of abuse and neglect of these dogs are just a few, as well as that these are perpetrated by individuals who steal the dogs from their original owners. In the sight of all these pictures, it does not look like we are talking about “4 cases”, as has been said, does it?
A picture is worth a thousand words, and, unfortunately, there are many images here. There exist many more; these are just the ones that I myself I have been finding, without especially looking for them, throughout a not very long time of dissemination of galgos and podencos in need of a home.

Protectora Scooby – saving the needy hounds
‘Elderly dogs, with tumors, with Leishmania or extremely thin… When we rescue animals we do it because they need help and because we’re worried about the fate that might await them without it.We don’t choose them for their color, size or age, nor do we care if they’re healthy or sick … We don’t select which dogs to help, we don’t think about whether they’re more or less beautiful or sociable, we don’t even consider if they will be easily adopted or if no one will want to give them a home and they’ll have to spend the rest of their lives with us in the shelter. None of that matters …
In Scooby we are animal lovers and our main goal is to help the ones most in need as they also deserve the best life possible.
