Tombola raising funds for Pepis Dog Refuge
Hundreds of chained hunting dogs lost their lives this week in a big fire near Malaga. The media stated there were no victims…
From Cobie at Scooby Residencia Valladolid.
Meet puppy Joseph jr. rescued 25/8/2015 from the perrera in Valladolid by Scooby. Was he born with this or has he had 2 broken front legs without them being treated? Or maybe he was taken too soon from his mother, as usually, and is this because of malnutrition? We don´t know yet but if it can be fixed, Scooby will fix it and if not, we will find him a goodhearted family who is not looking for a `perfect`galgo but for one who needs a loving family because the heart is all that matters most!
We took 2 other galgos at the same time.
Another fabulous prize in the tombola. Gifted artist Pat King says ‘I will paint a picture of the winner’s pet, no restriction on what type of pet, in acrylics on canvas measuring 40cms x 30cms which is about 20″ x 16″.’
Here are 2 examples of her work.
Tickets 5 euros each, paypal to band@bbrennan.eu and I will give you your numbers. All details here.
Raising funds for the galgos and podencos at Pepis Dog Refuge.
My first greyhound had such a superb temperament that she became a PAT dog…Pets As Therapy…in the UK and regularly visited an old folks’ home to spend time with the residents, especially those who had been dog owners but couldn’t have a dog in the home.
Here is a lovely story about a Spanish Galga who is doing a similar job – but this time in New Mexico in a prison.
Probably why they won’t ban it…nor any of the other cruel animal ‘sports’! Sick twisted minded males poncing around in sparkly garments making out they are ‘macho man’ when in fact they are pathetic puppets dangling on strings.
Here’s a lovely story about Maz Bailey, one of Spain’s expat heroines. It’s impossible to be an animal lover, move to Spain and ignore the plight of the thousands of abandoned dogs.
Podencos are the hounds used for hunting in the Canary Islands. Their life is as tough, if not more so, than for the galgos and podencos on mainland Spain. 85,000+ podencos in the Canary Islands. This is just one of the perreras. And you think the perreras in Spain are hellish!
Two more super items added…knitted coat for a galgo/greyhound and a fun wooden plaque.
Buy your tickets now! Help pay for the vet treatment for Anca, old podenco who’s spent a lifetime breeding puppies, kicked in the eye and dumped. Now receiving vet care and love at Pepis Refuge.
Great that so many galgos from Spain are rehomed, but for everyone homed in the UK, a British greyhound is overlooked. Like this one.
