If you live in Spain, this is what you might find in your bin! Usually it’s puppies….
Remember Martin Usborne visiting Spain? His book launch is in London on Thursday, 23rd July…all details here.
What do the Scooby team do on a day off…do they know what a day off means?! Here’s what they do!
So many wonderful Spanish people now working hard to help the abandoned and discarded dogs in their country. Yet it never fails to astound me that there sre STILL so many ignorant unfeeling people who can just walk by the sight of an animal suffering! One such case is Lucy, a little galga rescued with Scooby. Cobie tells the story.
‘This sweet little galga girl is Lucy, she´s 5 months old and was saved a few weeks ago from the perrera provincial from Valladolid by Scooby. The police had brought her there because she was walking on the street although she had an owner which was a gypsie. That person has done nothing about the severe mange she was suffering of and her whole body was covered in blood, infections and bad wounds.
Gesser Perrera, Cadiz, Spain, is one of the worst kill stations. This weekend it was set on fire…suspected neighbour bother by the barking! Here’s the report so far from Elsa Cornet Busquets.
‘Last info says dogs back in the pound and police are investigating. I really hope no victims…. this though doesn’t change the facts. those poor dogs face the hell of one the worst pounds in Spain with a high ratio of sacrifices plus now the threat of some nutter who I wish is caught and punished severely.. doubt it though with the crappy Spanish system..
OMG. POUND IN GESSER, IS ON FIRE!!! WE ARE STILL WAITING ON DETAILS ON HOW TO HELP. THERES RUMOURS ALL DOGS EVACUATED AND SAFE…. BUT WHERE?’
For those of you who followed the story of disabled galgo puppy Polar – abandoned at the gates of Pepis Dog Refuge, Pedrera, Seville at 2 months old, here’s a update on his life at present, 2 years after he arrived to join our canine gang. (Photo of him nursing Alan Brian after heart problems)
He still doesn’t know he is handicapped on his rear left leg joint. He evinces no sign of pain and can run faster than the other 2 galgos…in straight lines! However, Bracken (with 4 good legs) can turn corners much quicker! He has a small scoop of MSM each day, is still collecting ASBOs – last night he destroyed one of the foam beds a friend made for the dogs to lie on the terrasse in the sunshine!
