Video Training galgos in Spain – this was last February 2012 – if one of these dogs goes down, the bastard holding them doesn’t let go, the dog just gets dragged. Now you can see how the horrendous injuries from this ‘training’ occur. Look at the speed the drive of this outfit is driving!

Scooby on the track of the galgos of Cigales, Valladolid
News just in from Scooby. Seprona entered a barn in Cigales, Valladolid, where over 50 galgos were kept. They removed 13 of them, aged between 6-12 months, as they did not have microchips. The dogs were taken to the perrera in Valladolid to be chipped, and were then returned to the barn. Because the other galgos were chipped, Seprona know who the owner/s are. Fermin Perez is investigating the matter and the conditions in which the dogs are kept.

Seville galga – at risk in a galguero village
Appeal is out to try and rescue this poor galga, in a village in Seville province, in an industrial area near a gitano camp. I’ve asked my friends at Prodeanse, as it sounds as if the galga is in the area near them – which is a hellhole village for galgos. Fingers crossed for the galga. Cordoba galga used as bait in dog fights – fighting for her life
Readers of my book will not be unfamiliar with the knowledge that calm, gentle galgos are used as bait for dog fighting. Here is the story just in of one poor galgo. 29th November is another killing day in Badajoz Perrera!

Cordoba and Toledo – bad news for the galgos
There is very bad news and the future looks bleak for the galgos and podencos of Cordoba and Toledo. Asociacion Baas Galgo was given notice to leave the Villa del Rio kennels at Cordoba at the beginning of November, and they have been unsuccessful in purchasing land in Toledo to build a shelter. The dogs in their care have either been found homes across Europe or are with other associations and in kennels. Sandra will continue to work on behalf of the galgos from her new base in the US.
