Walk on by – how can some people? Galga Nana, fighting for life
Every day my inbox is filled with horror stories about the galgos and podencos of Spain – that just these two breeds, not counting all the other abandoned dogs. It’s hard to keep up with posting news about them all – I want to let you all know what is going on every day, what the volunteers cope with every day, and this is another story. I’ve translated it but it’s not perfect – but I’m sure you’ll get the gist of the report! Simply haven’t time to correct it, sorry!

Leah, waiting with Galgos del Norte for her forever…
Here is a beautiful young galga with Galgos del Norte, hoping for her forever home. some lovely pix of her on this link. Leah is a gorgeous galguita, a little shy at first but as soon as you are with her a little while, she loses her fear and comes to be caressed. She is quiet and obedient, walks by your side, likes other dogs but is nervous in the beginning. She will live with cats, but will be best with another dog, to give her confidence. contact Galgos del Norte through their weblink above.

Letters to write – please join my campaign – write now!
It’s time to run another letter-writing campaign to the Spanish national and provincial governments. Thank you to Dioni del Rio for this translation. Please copy and paste the letter into a word document and post. This link takes you to the list of addresses for the recipients – the national government – Prime Minister, Ministers of Tourism, Environment, Sport, Interior, all in Madrid, Andalucia, Murcia, Extremadura, Castilla la Mancha, Castilla y Leon, Balearics, Canary Islands, Valencia, Basque. The relevant addresses are highlighted in bold. You’ll need 15 copies of the letter if you write to them all. I’m beginning to get replies to my letters, so someone is reading them! Please join in, the galgos and podencos desperately need your help.

Bullas, Murcia, rescue – exposing the shame of Spain
Here are some photos of the rescue at Bullas, Murcia, on Friday, 9th March 2012. (most are on Facebook). Story on Podenco Post. You will see there were alsations, podencos, pointers, galgos…..some chained up in vans and trucks, some outside in the intense heat with no shade, chained to trees, no food, no water. The white dog has ticks behind its ears and down its spine.
