Justice in Spain remains in default again
We’ve all seen the terrible images of illegal hunting kennel in Bullas. The owner, a hunter, the 120 dogs left to their fate, their only food was chips, chips or pig heads and drinking water was not present. Podencos in a crowded closed kennel, other dogs were chained or walked off without any protection from the weather. Trenches where the dead bodies of dogs were still visible, several carcasses of dogs on the property.

Galgo Rey – from Seville to Malaga to…seeking forever home
This is the story of galgo Rey (King of kings), abandoned on the streets of Seville starving, thin and weak, he lay down one day and gave up on life; his galguero no longer valued Rey’s life. For at 7+ years he has surely given his best to his master. Bred from, run and hunted, he was probably the prime galgo of the group and caught the most hares. To get to his age is a credit to his survival.
He’s got two disadvantages – he’s all black and he’s male. What is it about black galgos, that people turn away; when their coat recovers in good condition, they are stunning!

On Sunday 25th Mawrch 2012 at 1800, animal rights campaigners took to the streets in towns and cities throughout Spain to protest against the cruelty inflicted on animals in the name of tradition and fiestas. Here’s a translation the story.
Madrid, March 25 (EFE). – Citizens of 31 Spanish cities organized through social networks have come this evening simultaneously on the street with their pets to seek tougher penalties for animal cruelty under the Criminal Code referred to in the “Second People’s Initiative not to animal abuse.”

Madrid – sights to see
White galgos were always considered the ultimate by the Spanish aristocracy, and here are two beauties in Madrid, needing forever homes. Kendra is stunning with her different coloured eyes, and little Aroa was found alone on the street! Here are their stories.
AROA – the police took Aroa and her little brother Arati off the street in a village near Madrid where they had been wandering for several days, looking for food. She is in foster, good in the house, with children, with other dogs and cats and, being only 5 months old, playful.

Macu lives in Seville and has been working to save podencos from a gypsy. Now she has received a call about a hunter with galgos, podencos and mix breeds, kept in a shack in cages, existing on bread. He was going to take them to a perrera which doesn’t charge to kill the dogs. She has managed to get 3 of the 10 galgos, and is asking for help to get the other 7. It’s horrendous this year, everyone is full to overflowing – bloody hunters.
