Please, if you haven’t signed this petition, do so.
Hi: few days ago we requested your help in this new campaign to ask if Cordoba was chosen as European Cultural Capital, in cultural events not included bullfighting. But participation is still low. If you have not participated in and signed on the following link, just a minute. Thanks: Asanda

Training galgos in Andalucia – Spain should be ashamed – write and protest!
Postal addresses now added. Scroll down.
Photos we hoped never to see again, an ‘activity’ which should be banned by law and perpetrators pay heavy fines. Please look are what these poor galgos are being put through, and write your letter of protest to the Junta. Please publicise widely and ask everyone you know to protest.
The Junta de Andalucia, namely the Minister of Agriculture, Clara Aguilera, and Manuel Brenes, director general of the Government of the Board, has supported the legalizing of training galgos attached to mirrors, tractors and motorbikes. They believe that this practice does not amount to abuse of the animal. Aguilera pledged to seek a definitive solution to the sanctions imposed by the SEPRONA, who could detain anyone ‘training’ his dogs with this method and they imposed penalties of up to 600 euros. Galgueros have met with the members of the Junta, who has shown them support.

Updates on the Seville galgos – Scooby Medina helps
Here’s a message from Cobie, a Dutch volunteer who has travelled to Spain to help at the Scooby Medina refuge.
‘Scooby saved some 75 galgos from the area around Sevilla. A few weeks ago they went picking up some 25 galgos, Last Wednesday another 37 of which you can see the pictures and tomorrow (Tuesday) another 25 are being picked up by Scooby. They come from everywhere, taken from the streets, from gypsy camps, from perreras, also from the bloody perrera from Mairena.

Seville gypsy camp – revealing the truth, exposing the suffering
This is a diabolical situation which has been ongoing for two or three days. Volunteers are working like mad to save these dogs.A volunteer writes. ‘Am writing to ask for help. I know everyone is saturated with dogs and right now, with the hunting season in full swing, every week we find more and more dogs. But I had to send this appeal.
It’s a case in Seville in a shanty area. There are gypsies with many compounds made of metal where they put hundreds of dogs, above all galgos and podencos waiting to be tried by the gypsies as to if they can be used for hunting. Those that can are sold to the galgueros. The others they kill. They rent these places for months and have to pay the head of the gypsy hierarchy.

Galga Gaby, abandoned in Murcia, fostered in France, adopted in the UK
Here’s something to make you chuckle, amidst so many horror stories. I am fostering a galga rescued by Tina Solera of Los Infiernos Refuge in Murcia (by the way, click on the ‘hound’ logo on the right to donate desperately needed dog food to her) who is en route to her forever home in the UK. The galga is a terrible thief! What a surprise! But as she is larger than my Carmela and Sahara, she can reach more things.

Galga Mora, happy in Italy thanks to Galgos 112
This is Mora today, a happy fit galga living in Italy with her adoptive family and canine siblings. This was Mora earlier in the year. Thank you to Arca de Sevilla, Galgos 112 and their vet who all did a wonderful job of putting her back together again.
