I regularly receive emails asking me to post appeals to highlight the stray dog problem in Greece and former Eastern Bloc countries like Romania. Whilst I’d like to protect every animal from mistreatment and suffering, my focus is on the plight of the galgos and podencos. I include greyhounds, as some of the problems facing them are also faced by the galgos.
I have been told about a problem in Romania
Greyhounds here are used by poachers, who then sell the meat! They are kept in terrible conditions, starved (like the galgueros, they think a starving hound will hunt better!). You can read about the terrible problem on this link. And wherever greyhounds are used, galgos could also find themselves, since there is a dark side to trafficking in galgos in Spain. Please post widely to all greyhound groups.

This is devestating news i have shared this with everyone i know on my facebook profile I have posted the news on greytexploitations forum as well as shared the sad and devestating new on other sites where i am a member. This has to be stopped for the sake of both the greyhounds and the galgos + other sighthounds. I will warn others as well this will be spread around the world how else can we combat such wanton cruelty and blatant ignorance heartless people if we do not alert others and turn our backs on the plight of these poor starving greyhounds we are as bad as those who abuse and mistreat them. Silence is a killer loud protests and worldwide alerts saves lives. Thanks for alerting us to this new and devestating news about the greyhounds hopefully some of them can be saved.
