  • DeAnimals – Courses on animal welfare for lawyers, Seprona, animal volunteers, judges

Poster course 170 1 2016On 23rd January DeAnimals specialist animal welfare lawyers, held another successful course for people in authority who want to study the laws for animals; animal welfare; prison law and how to make a denounce against animal abuse.  Delegates included Seprona, local police, national police, a judge and a lawyer; it was also attended by an Actin Committee member. The course also covered working to make an ANIMAL PROTECTION group that can help to make important changes in Spain and different cities and towns in Spain.

The principal and important things to make changes in Spain is the INFORMATION, the information and knowledge of the laws gives power to the legal process and this is the true key to making changes in Spain for animals.

Actin sponsored 6 people on the course, which was enabled by a generous donator.

The next course will probably be Saturday 9 April in Murcia, to be confirmed. It will start at 9.30 to 19.30h with food included. The price with food will be approximately 90 to 95 pounds. Actin may be able to sponsor a delegate, if they are unable to afford the costs and can demonstrate that this course will help them in their working capacity, as an animal welfare advocate.

DeAnimals will also be running a course for lawyers, association and police about animal law, prison law and abuse of animals in the official College of lawyers in Sevilla. This course is free to everyone, trainee lawyers, police and association. Actin will be sponsoring this course.

  • ACTIN – animal cruelty exposed through the Courts – why they need your support

ACTIN Snowdrop 250 8 2013ACTIN can now report on a case of severe maltreatment of galgos which they have been working on since august 2013. This is why they need your support, to pay their legal team fight such cases through the courts. The two galgos are now with 112carlotagalgos and they have sponsors. Charl has asked that any donations for them be sent direct to ACTIN to help them continue their work.

    Viv Wharton reports.

In August 2013, Actin was alerted to a case of 3 dogs being kept in horrendous conditions. It is hard to prove cruelty and neglect in Spain because of the lack of an animal protection act or an official organisation in Spain. Since Actin’s conception one of its aims is to prove how many cases like this exist and to find the right way to deal with it effectively.

  • ACTIN – an overview of their work in 2014

ACTIN logo 130As you know, I publicise the work ACTIN do on behalf of all animal rescue associations in Spain, trying to improve the lot of the abandoned and maltreated animals. Here is a word from the founder Viv Wharton.

Happy New Year and a big thank you to the many who have helped us. We thought you might like to see what you have helped Actin Association achieve in 2014

It has been just over one year since Actin responded to the many worrying calls of eyewitness accounts regarding a local pound. We ended up rescuing so many dogs and it was such a task without having a rescue shelter, with no funds and with the animals having unexpected illnesses. Thankfully our supporters responded to our calls for assistance, because without them we would not have had a chance. In hindsight we would have been under less pressure, had we been better equipped and prepared but we acted with our hearts and when we saw the faces of those dogs, we could not leave them behind to suffer.
