  • The horror of Las Cuadras, Seville – the reality of life for the animals there

    Las Cuadras EDL 250 01 2011L’Europe des Levriers is the French association from whom I adopted my 3 galgos and with whom I have worked on rescues. This is the story of the gypsy camp of Las Cuadras in Seville, as told by their President, Beatrice Monnet, on their website. At the end of this report, you can see a video of the Fundacion Benjamin Menhert on one of their rescues – 600 dogs taken out of the camp in one year!

    ‘Since its inception in 2006, L’Europe des Levriers has repeatedly denounced the terrible camp galgueros Las Cuadras in Seville. Cristina, our Vice President, regularly rescues galgos and podencos from this hell. We go to our kennels in Madrid every 3 or 4 months to bring these rescued dogs to France for adoption.

  • Seville – Desperately Urgent to save this galgo from the streets

  • Urgent call – Seville – galgo puppy abandoned, anyone room for it?

    Galgo puppy Seville 250 10 2011Hunting in Spain has only just begun and already the slow and sick galgos are being dumped and abandoned. Here’s an urgent appeal for help for a 2-month old galgo puppy in Seville, abandoned tied by a rope to a fence.

    Sara found it, she has already two galgos at home, abandoned in the streets, and her partner won’t have another one. Please can any associations help? Thank you.

  • Seville, galgo pup rescued from rubbish bin!

    Bebe 250 08 2011 This little galgo pup was rescued from a rubbish bin in Seville. She is about 2 months old, has been named Bebe and is now in a special shelter for puppies, costing 4 euros/day. Help is now needed to find this little girl a foster and adoption home. If anyone can help, please contact direct.

  • La Gran Familia, Seville – dogs needing help, petition to sign

    This is an appeal from Gran Familia in Seville.

    ‘We have come to the limits of our physical capabilities for the summer. We know that
    currently there are many urgent cases that we that we are unable to help because we have a multitude of expensse built up – vet fees, treatments, and we have to pay for kennels for the dogs as we have no shelter.

    We have four residence with dogs in kennels which cost us 720 euros per month. Below are the dogs in them. This is a cry for help for them and for us, we need to feed the and treat them on a daily basis and of course people want to charge – both the kennels and the vet – and the debt gets larger.

  • Starving, injured, escapee from hanging……the horror continues

    Starving galgo Ayendena 250 10 03 2011 Every day more horror stories come in from Spain, abandoned, injured and starving galgos – and the hunters still deny it goes on! Three appeals for help, if anyone can squeeze any of these dogs into a shelter or foster home, please contact the people direct.

    1. Galgo rescued by the Association AYANDENA in Seville, the greyhound is more dead than alive, with horrendous injuries to his hind leg, flesh is missing down to the bone. He urgently needs care, need help with veterinary costs. Irene Alcayde de Lamo
