  • Prodeanse, Seville – Galgo puppy saved and needing help

Paula Prodeanse puppy 1 250 1 2014This poor galga has been named Paula, a baby of about 3 months old, taken from a gypsy by Prodeanse, Seville, one of the shelters I visited in 2012. She had vomiting, diarrhea – from which she was dehydrated – and a broken leg. It’s not the first dog that they have taken from this man, who cares very little about his animals.

Prodeanse are asking for your help to pay the vet fees for Paula. The operation to repair her leg will be between 600-700 euros and there is all the medication for her too. Here’s a Bing translation of their appeal.

Loli says, ‘This is what we have to part the operation that will be more than 600 euros and we don’t have the money to pay for it yet. We need your help, it will invoice.

  • Galgo Tico takes a bath – update on beating those who abandoned and injured him

Tiko bath time 250 7 12 2013Tico’s bathtime! Here are words from Sandra.

Tico walked by, panicking, dark road of abandonment and distress, carried away by the swing of steps without any sense, direct to certain death. Suddenly, through the darkness, a light blinded him for a moment, “finally someone coming to my rescue,” he thought. But that illusion vanished, remained a wrenching pain that not only broke bones, but the soul. Suddenly HE shot hundreds of feet and HIS body joined the cold and rough asphalt.

  • Update on Polar 21 11 2013

The canine physiotherapist who has been treating Polar wanted an up-to-date xray of his injured leg, as she felt there was a problem with his ligaments. As the previous xrays were taken in Spain at the beginning of April, and Polar has grown enormously since then, I thought it a good idea too.

  • Polar’s diary – first day at school!

Polar tired 250 15 9 2013With 4 other dogs, it’s not easy training Polar, as he always wants to be with them. He’s learnt the basic sit and down but really needs to socialise with other dogs and people. So today was his first day at ‘doggy school’ and a whole new experience!

We had some crying in the car as I drove away from home. We very definitely had a tail touching tummy when we arrived and he was confronted by a dozen strange canines who had plenty of ideas about ‘behaving badly’!

  • Polar’s diary – the story of a little white galgo puppy

Polar 250 29 5 2013Polar is a small white galgo puppy, born in February 2013, who was abandoned outside Pepis Refuge, Pedrera, Seville, in early April. He has a deformed back leg which, xray results show, is due to being broken when very young and then left to heal itself. Unless he has ongoing operations on his leg, it will not grow as he grows, which might lead to amputation. I decided to adopt him, as my French vet is marvellous at putting injured/deformed legs back together. The operations will be expensive and I am hoping people will help me with the cost of these, by coming up with some fundraising ideas.

Polar has had his bath today, apparently water went everywhere! On Thursday he leaves Pepis and his friends and begins his journey to France, arriving Friday afternoon.

  • Galgo pup Polar needs leg operations – Pepis Refuge, Seville, needs your help for him

Pepis Polar Dillon 250 1 5 2013Just look at these two little friends, comforting each other at Pepis refuge, Seville. Jane tells their stories.

‘This is Polar, he is 4 months old. He was left at the refuge three weeks ago and has a deformed back leg. He saw the bone specialist and we were told that his leg was broken when he was a tiny baby and as he has grown the leg has become twisted above and below his knee. He will need to have several operations to correct the deformity. We were told that if the leg is not tended too soon, as he grows the leg will not. Who will want to home him as he is….
