  • Stop galgo racing at Mijas – please sign the petition

    You may remember the campaign to stop galgo racing at the Mijas hippodrome. Charl del Rio of 112carlotagalgos had a meeting with the Mayor who confirmed that they were not considering allowing any further meetings for galgo racing, for the time being. We are sure your response to the appeal to send letters helped.

    Mieke van Erp wants to emphasise to the council the desire of galgo supporters to continue with this decision and has raised a petition which she is asking you all to sign. Here’s the link. Please support her.

  • Mairena Killing Station – Petition to close it down

    Mairena 1 250In previous years I’ve featured galgos and podencos dumped in the Mairena killing station (obviously there are thousands of other types of dogs dumped there too which suffer the same horrendous end to their lives). Because of the bad publicity, volunteers were banned from going in to photo the dogs.

  • Petition the Spanish Government – abused galgos and podencos in Spain

    Galgos in cage 230 Bulletin des Levriers In partnership with Urgence-animaux, le Bulletin Des Lévriers has launched a new worldwide petition to ask for the ban of hunting with Spanish Greyhounds (Galgos) in Spain. In 2009, we sent the 20.000 signatures which we had we collected thanks to Care2 to the Spanish Minister of the Environment. Let’s mobilize again to show the Spanish government that people around the World do not give-up on abused Sighthounds in Spain and that ill-treatments, very real, of Galgos and Podencos in Spain has to stop.   • Ban hunting with galgos – a virtual demonstration to join – my comments

    Please would all our national and international supporters now contact the ‘ISPCA’ (the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and ask them to mobilise all their supporters to join this vital campaign to protect our greyhounds. Other leading animal welfare organisations are also backing the worldwide campaign to stop Irish Greyhounds being exported to China. We need every voice!
