2013 Galgo calendars on sale – support Pepis Refuge

Resur, Baeza, Jaen – two more galgos on death row
These two young galgos were saves from Linares, are now in Resur, but could still be killed if no one takes them. Baeza refuge is full, and the other problem is that if the galgos went there, then it is quite likely they would be stolen – it’s that time of year! Desperate, injured, starving in Cordoba
Black galgos, starving, injured, all needing help. First of all we have the case of a black galgo who has been named Grissom. He’s got a gun shot wound to his leg, the pellet is still there, and it has broken his leg. He desperately needs surgery etc and that will cost. He was very think when picked up, very loving, but obviously can’t move about on this damaged leg. He’s in foster care with 4 other dogs. The second case is really desperate too. Two black galgos (bottom photo) who have been living near some properties in Cicada, Cordoba, for over two months. One of them has neck marks, possibly a hanging mark, they are in a state through lack of food, often take refuge in a stream, so are at risk of the mosquito. The lady can’t take care of them because she has two dogs.

Huelva and Badajoz – babies in danger
Two appeals here for galgo puppies loose, ready for the hunters to grab them! These puppies are at Punta, Huelva. The adults are nearby but frightened but protective of their babies. Saturday, 25th August 2012 – La Magdalena, Murcia – Fun Day
ACTIN is an association formed in 2012 and they are holding a Fun Day on Saturday, 25th August at La Magdalena, Murcia, to raise funds for their work. They need support to start the process of reducing the numbers of abandoned puppies, kittens, dogs and cats in the region, so have decided to try and raise money for a mobile veterinary unit, which will visit the outlying villages and do basic care advice, inoculations and neutering. So if you live in the area or are going on holiday to Murcia during August, please go along and support the event.

August – and Scooby is still rescuing galgos…
At the beginning of the week Fermin Perez of Scooby went out to buy a new cement mixer; on his way back he picked up yet another abandoned galgo. And then a couple of days later, this small galgo puppy was found in a pinewood, abandoned! Cobie, of Scooby, says ‘I would like to talk in that wood to the person who left her all alone there, without water or food!! She is only skin and bones, dehydrated and malnourished, some 7 weeks old. Now she is ok after an infusion, she does not yet want to eat but the volunteers are going to buy and cook chicken, we hope she will eat it!

Animales de Baeza, Jaen – two more galgos needing homes
These two galgos were rescued from the Resur perrera by Animales de Baeza. They are in kennels because there is no room in the refuge and they could now be stolen if they are not taken. Their kennel fees have been paid for 2 weeks, plus vaccinations. Is there an association which can take them for foster and rehoming. The French association which helps her have already taken some galgos from her. Clara is the brindle one, Diana the black one. Please contact Mairie Teresa at Baeza, Jaen.
