  • SOS Galgos – no justice still for 3 murdered galgos

    From SOS Galgos

7 years to judge the death of 3 greyhounds. 7 years!  Is this really justice?
The trial for the 3 greyhounds that appeared in sacks inside the Guadaíra River in 2020, one of them still alive, was to be held on 18 November.  We’ve been waiting for 3 years… and resigned because no one cited the 7 key witnesses. (more…)

  • Galgo Project EU – information needed on the numbers of dogs in shelters

    Open photo

Galgo Project EU is a Dutch organisation dedicated to supporting, rescuing, and giving a voice to galgos and podencos. They work closely with Spanish shelters, help dogs find safe homes, and raise awareness about the structural mistreatment these dogs still suffer.

With Galgo Project EU, we’re gathering data, testimonies, and concrete evidence to build a detailed dossier for the European Parliament. Our goal is clear:

To hold Spain accountable for not applying Article 13 of the Lisbon Treaty, and to push for equal, EU-wide protection of all dogs, including galgos and podencos, without exceptions. (more…)

  • Galgos Rescue Almeria – another unwanted galga now safe

    From Sandy Galgoslover

Recently we received a call about this girl. Unwanted… “no longer useful”… words no animal should ever have to hear. You can imagine the rest.

This sweet soul lives with a hunter. She has given her whole life: worked, obeyed, never complained. She endured humiliation, swallowed disappointment, and never understood why love for her had to be so scarce. (more…)

MANIFESTO FOR THE EQUALITY OF ALL DOGS. Join with your organisation!

As many of you already know, there is an attempt to exclude hunting and working dogs from the Royal Decree on animal facilities (núcleos zoológicos) — their last chance to be protected. These dogs would be left even more unprotected under a decree issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, which would only require registration, identification, and little else. Reporting the poor conditions of hunting packs (rehalas) would become even more difficult. (more…)

    From Galgos 112

    https://www.facebook.com/reel/698547899536091

A friend of our veterinarian Montse de Linares, knowledgeable of the work we do in Galgos112, has contacted us because not the police of a town of Jaén (no matter which, since It’s the usual tonic) and no one listened to him to pick up this poor being, with one leg completely destroyed and another broken as well. Berto as we’ve called him was lying near a place where people sometimes pass by on bikes and that was his luck…

  • Pet Blood Bank UK – appeal for canine donors

Our stocks of negative blood are at critical levels. This means we need to collect more blood from dogs with a negative blood type, as it can be given to any dog in an emergency.  We have over 750 negative blood typed donors in our pack. If each of these dogs donated once before the end of this year, we’d have more than enough blood to help every vet and dog in need

If your dog is a negative, please consider booking an appointment at a donation session near you soon. We really need you and your wonderful dog to come along and make a lifesaving difference. (more…)
