This galga has just given birth in this dirty place, a house, derelict about to fall down. It will soon fall down! The worst, is that JUST a few metres away from her litter of pups is a well, a well with an incredible amount of depth.

Returned to the shelter after 4 years in a home – through no fault of his own
Three years ago this beautiful galgo was adopted from Parque Animal in Torremolinos, Malaga, by an English couple. Having previously been abandoned, he thought he had found his forever home.
Nearly 4 years later he finds himself back where he was, due to unforeseen circumstances out of his control and that of his adoptive parents.

Translation of letter from the Office of the Spanish Prime Minister
Pat Getz, of the Greyhound Protection League USA, has kindly sent in this translation of the letter I received from the office of the Spanish Prime Minister.
She says ‘A friend of mine who speaks Spanish and is married to someone who speaks Spanish as his native language was kind enough to do this translation. Kristin is very busy with two small children and many, many activities, but is a great animal lover. I thank her for her efforts.’
I thank Pat for her efforts too, and reprint the translation as sent to me.

Dulce Vita – a small-town dog from Southern Spain

Dulce is a podenca with a peculiar gait. Her front legs move like a trotter (French racehorse) and her hind legs move like a crab. She’s a happy little dog now, but she nearly died. -
Driving in Spain?

This is Luz. She was wandering the streets of Jaen, hard to catch. Despite trying to catch her in many ways, including tranquillizers, the way she was finally caught was by being knocked down. -
The Hidden Shame of Spain
Charl del Rio reports on the lastest atrocities in Spain: Yesterday this case reached me from a friend in assoc ciudad animal, yet again the galgos suffer and the help comes too late. In Mota del Cuervo – Cuenca, Castilla la Mancha, a friend of mine was called since the police had been notified regarding robberies – what they found in the derelict building was horrific.
Galgos hung, cans of fuel, and the galgos eventually fallen from their horrific death to the floor to rot. They were approximately a year old, and male.

Going on holiday to Spain? What you won’t see.
The trauma that hundreds of galgos suffer throughout their short lives is, at times, almost unbelievable. Passion Levriers tells a tale.

Help the Chip Appeal
Last November Tete and her volunteers, arrived at the shelter of Arconaturalinares, to find the fence cut open and many dogs running free outside the premises. On entering they found the storage room broken into with all the medication, bedding, iodine and even the dog food stolen.
Much worse however, was the disappearance of the two galgas that had arrived just 36 hours earlier.
So has started their Chip Appeal to try and ensure all dogs arriving at the centre are microchipped.
