I wish some person in the public domain would create an Animal Aid event. We have Children in Need, Comic Relief (£41 million raised last week and for me there was too much promotion funding projects in Africa (with their corrupt regimes) and not enough on entertainment for the people being asked to donate) and Sports Relief – all in the UK.
In a previous life I worked for the BBC including Children in Need in our area and the interest generated on the money they raised was also phenominal.
Viv Wharton of ACTIN says – What we could do if people changed their attitudes towards charity funding? This video is really good and especially interesting if you have come across people being negative towards fund giving, or discrimination against charities….

Absolutely agree. I always feel slightly uncomfortable about the amount of millions being directed to Africa. Surely whilst the UK is doing this , those Governments are going to sit back and do nothing to help their own. Corruption is rife and this should be tackled first. I am sure there are many high profile celebrities who, if approached, would lend their support to an Animal Aid event.
Any ideas on who we could ask? I tried JK Rowling when she adopted a greyhound in Scotland, but the reply from one of her staff was a ‘no’. Always worth asking though.
paul ogrady simon cowell I am sure he got a villa in spain somewhere Leona lewis jilly cooper annet Crosby they are all animal orientated there is other people just cant think at the minute
I don’t think that this will ever happen unfortunately. There would be too much criticism ie “this money could be going to the starving millions and not animals”. It would be great if it could happen but you would never get high profile people on board because of this, even those who love animals, give their time and money ie Simon Cowell, Peter Egan, Dame Judy Dench, Ricky Gervais. It’s only in very recent times that it was deemed acceptable to have animals charities as it wasn’t deemed ‘ethical’ while people starved etc. I wish people would change their attitudes but I can’t see it happening in the near future. I think the only charity funding for animals that goes global is for the protection of endangered species and campaigns against poaching. The Harmony Fund is doing really good things but appreciate that this isn’t an ‘Aid Event’.
