Here in the US, people are very influenced by famous, wealthy people and wish to copy them. Would it make a difference to people of Spain to know that the multi millionaire J K Rowling author of the ‘Harry Potter’ books adopted a Greyhound? And Jade Jagger, Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger’s daughter has Greyhounds? These dogs are treated very well, and not looked upon as ‘vermin’ like the poor Galgos of Spain!

    Bonjour Valarie
Thank you for your post, Im sure the greyhound
associations would use this information to help with their publicity about the
dogs. British actress Annette Crosbie does so much to try and help raise
awareness of what happens to greyhounds after racing, and what wonderful
companion dogs they make. Sandra Baas used famous Spanish people in her
2010 calendar, and Baroness Thyssen in particular is very well known for helping
withpublicity for the galgos. In France Michel Deplech has adopted galgos
from LEurope des Levriers and he and his wife also help with raising public
    awareness.
But its the Spanish associations which need all
our support to publicise to the rest of the world about the plight of the galgos
every year, and support them in their efforts to educate Spanish people that
maltreatment of animals is simply not acceptable. Scooby are obviously
thrilled that at long last they have been able to take this step forward in
    their efforts.
    Thanks for your continued support.
    Beryl
