No Spanish Holiday swimming in the Canal for this Galgo rescued by SEPRONA – who threw him in there?

Rescued from a river Pro Galgo 1 0110 210 A member of the Service of Protection of the Nature (Seprona) of the Civil Guard of Don Benito rescued a galgo from the waters of the channel of Navalvillar de Pela as, due to the extremely steep incline, it could not get out.

The rescue, according to the Delegation of the Government, took place on 10th January in the morning, during the usual monitoring of the canal.

The galgo was inside the channel with part of its body submerged in the water and the agents of the SEPRONA, with just their hands and helped by a strap, were able to tie the dog and to rescue it. The poor dog had blood-stained legs, wounds produced when trying to get out of the channel.

Rescued from a river Pro Galgo 2 0110 230 What a surprise! It had no identification so no means of tracing the owner! Usual problem for galgos. So it was transferred to the shelter Protector Prado of Don Benito for treatments to its wounds.

In the course of 2009 the Civil Guard of Badajoz has recovered a total of 182 animals, not only domestic but also rare examples of threatened species like eagles, lions, iguanas, vultures. The animal were transferred to official centres of Recovery and Protection, under the specific care of veterinarians.

Pro-Galgo association will take over the care of the galgo from 25th January, who has been named Felix. If you can offer him a forever home, contact Pro-Galgo direct.

Gracias
    por comentar y cuidar.

    Bonjour
Figures now being talked of are
    100,000!
And I am sure the Spanish shelters and volunteers
are dreading what is in store in the next few weeks – Id like to go in and hang
every galguero who does not keep his dog and treat it well. It all makes
me very angry, and Im over the border in France!

What a beautiful loolking greyhound. A greyhound and her 7 pups were dumped outside a local shop on news years eve. The mother had an open wound the size of a dinner plate and the pups looked in good condition. They were saved by an animal charity but I do not know if the mother cou;d be helped. When will it ever end!?
