Spanish Federation of Galgos (FEG) discusses galgo registration

Federacion Espanol Galgo logo 250 Sandra Baas of Baas Galgo has just forwarded this information link. You will have to use a translator, as the information is in Spanish. The important point is that the FEG – Federacion Espanola Galgos based in Madrid – is this month discussing the registration and identification of galgos owned by its members.

They say on their website “After more than a century of lagging behind other countries which use galgos and greyhounds for competition, the Spanish Federation of Galgos, with its president D Carlos Sanz Calvo at the helm, has adopted an ambitious Plan of Record and Indentification of every galgo born under the aegis of the federation”.

Sadly, this only one of several galgo hunting federations and only relates to galgos owned by its members, but it is a start, and long overdue.

Well, your right its a start!! The message will get out there and the more people that adopt galgos for companions and walk with their heads held high the more people will stop seeing them as a poor mans campo dog. What is it with Yorkies as the rich mans dog and galgos as the poor mans dog…….. are people really this insecure still????? My galgo is a well known accepted resident in our village now and even the older spanish see him as a dog now and like him… (im raising my eyebrows and laughing) lol x

    Hi Tina
Yes, it is a start, but it says competition dogs
so what about the hunting dogs. I shall try and translate some more
tonight to see what they say about what happens to the dogs at the end of the
    season.
