Look carefully, you might see a puppy in there. And it’s not only the animals for whom life is hard. It is also hard for animal rescuers. This is a tale from one, near Valencia. She’s been trying to rescue a galga and her puppies. This is the story.
‘Today was a horrible day. Again I saw the mother walking through the village and crossing or standing in the middle of the road, cars rushing by, these people do not even reduce their speed to avoid the dog.
Every day I see her, I try to follow to see where she is hiding. Eventually I found it and she had puppies – at an abandoned farm. Neighbours said there were two brothers who left. I looked through a hole and saw one puppy had starved to death.
I’m trying to get help to get the mamma and puppy, I can’t let the death of the other puppy be in vain. I leave water and food but it is not always eaten. They are not always there.’
