A plea from a member of Galgos France, driving through Extremadura. An injured galgo needing help. Details here.
‘I am writing because I do not know who to ask for help to a young female brindle galgo I saw when crossing over from Spain in Extramadura. We were heading to the national V E90 towards Madrid. We stopped for refueling at service area DONAIRE GP-LA ESTRELLA long after Villamesias Merida.
We enjoyed lunch in the parking lot where they park the trucks. I saw this young dog who drinks and came towards us. Saw the distress in her eyes. She had a nasty cut on the leg that was beginning to become infected and visibly in pain. I was able to approach slowly but she remained fearful still.
I inquired at the station but apparently they did not care about the fate of this poor animal. It happened Friday afternoon 5th August. I could not contact anyone as we have only just returned. I do not know if she is still alive but if anyone can contact a Spanish correspondent who lives in the area and who can look there.
Just to clarify, she hides under the unhitched truck trailers. A large weeping willow is the parking lot. Since I saw this young bitch, I’m just thinking all the time about her. If anyone can do something let me know and give me news of her, if possible that a rescue took place and we will give you contact information for financial help’..

The galga, named Enora, is safe, she has been rescued and is recovering waiting for Galgos France’s next journey in september to come to France in a foster family. She was heavily pregnant and has been operated and her leg is recovering well.
Thanks to everyone who has helped rescuing her, either diffusing or on the ground !

That is absolutely fantastic news, thanks for letting us know. You all do such an amazing job. Hope she is soon on the road to recovery and finds a wonderful forever home. Beryl
Hi, I am so pleased to hear this news as this girl has been on my mind all week. I did email on Tuesday asking were she was to see if I could help but heard nothing. I was all set today to drive to the area today to see if I could find her. Any news of the pups?
Well done for all you do to help these lovely Galgos and please contact me if you need any help in my area of Spain. I live just outside Zafra in the Extremadura area.

Hi Pauline
I get so many appeals etc in, I dont post them
all, as other writing to do too – campaign letters etc. So if you can
email people direct and ask what has happened to the dogs on the posts, and let
me know, that will be an enormous help. The people dont always reply –
its what some of the volunteers have found when they try to make contact to
take a dog.
