Galgos, dumped, abandoned, unwanted, and hunting has only just started!

Scooby galgos in perrera 170 10 2011The dumping of galgos continues, increasing now as the hunters abandon the dogs which don’t make it as hunters, breeding bitches etc. Cobie of Scooby asks (on Facebook) ‘Why do they bring them to a perrera where they will be killed after 21 days and not 40 km. further to Scooby where they are safe?? I will never understand that. Anyway, this morning I took from the perrera in Simancas these 3 female beauties which can be taken of from the deathlist now and certainly will be adopted very soon to live a happy life with a loving family. They are young, beautiful and very, very sweet!’

And 8 more in the Gesser killing station, Cadiz; some of them have been reserved. But you can see from the pictures how frightened they are, not understanding why they are there. I suppose the only good thing we can say about the galguerros dumping them at the killing station is that it is better than hanging them, dumping on motorways or dropping down wells.

Thank You Scooby for saving the lives of the poor souls ! Sometimes I feel very helpless here in Germany – beeing so far away from all the suffering animals in Spain. The only thing I can do is donate some money, share petitions, send packages to the sheklters. I´m so glad there is a rising number of spanish animal-protectionists, who do a great job to help the abandonded dogs there.

Well said, Kerstin. Your feelings are exactly

galgos and podencos, as well as the other maltreated animals in that
country. We all have to support the valient volunteers in shelters and

Got cut off before I finished my last comment!
Those of us outside Spain do as much as we can to support the valient efforts of
the volunteers and rescue associations who try and help the abused
animals. And every little helps, every life saved is precious to that
life. We should all feel good about that.
    Thanks for caring and supporting.

Good morning, I am very scared of the situation of these concrete galgos in Gesser killing station in Cadiz (pictures above). Are they still alive? Do you need some help to rescue them? Are they all reserved? I understand that generally it is better way than to hang them.Would you be so kind and give me some information? Many thanks, Zuzana

Hello, i have the same question like Zuzana. Is possible adopt these dogs? Lot of people in Czech Republic love grayhounds and galgos… Thanx and good luck! Ivo
