You remember the story of Estrela, the galga maltreated by an alcoholic and his heroin addict wife – many of you good people donated to pay for special milk feed for Estrela to be able to feed her pups, and have medication for pneumonia, and she was eventually allowed to be taken by Teresa to her shelter. Estrela now needs a foster or, even better, an adoption family. Here is what Ines says.
‘Estrela could possibly go to Germany throughan association to be adopted there. But she would have to go into association kennels whilst she waited. Being the traumatised dog she is, we wouldn’t want her to to through that. She is extremely insecure and fearful and only feels safe close to Teresa, she panics in kennels.
So we would like her to go straight from us to an experienced and understanding adoption family with the knowledge and patience to care for her forever.
She needs to be microchipped, vaccinated, spayed etc.
At the moment, although she is recovered from the pneumonia, Estrela is not putting on any weight and gets tired very easily. she is losing her coat, her eyes are dull and she is not very responsive. she has had blood tests for leishmania and tested negative, and the vet has no idea what could be wrong. He doesn’t have the means nor equipment to do further analyses, so Estrela needs to go to another more expensive veterinary hospital.
The full checkup and tests are estimated to cost 150 euros.

The matter is urgent, as the hunter keeps wanting to take Estrela for coursing again, he doesn’t accept he is no longer the owner.

beryl i hopeyou dont mind i contacted ines she gave me an up date on estrela she been moved to another foster home now and is coming round she seems to think she was to close to former owner and hearing their voices was stressing her there is a nice english lady interested in fostering her already got 2 gals but they need to get esrela fit befor she can leave so donations be very greatfull she gave me this pp adress for to put donations through its easier to keep track of funds in this account portugaldogrescue@gmail.com i said i would put on gal news for her
