ACTIN and AWSM, Murcia – saving dogs from maltreatment and neglect

ACTIN in Murcia is not primarily a dog rescue association. Its aims are set out here but, in carrying out their work, it sometimes necessitates taking dogs out of unacceptable conditions. Casey and Noir are two galgas who were recently rescued along with several other dogs. The dogs are now in the care of ACTIN’s rescue association, Animal Welfare Support Murcia (AWSM). ASWM desperately need funds for all these dogs, some in very poor condition and needing veterinary treatment. They do not have a refuge so kennel fees also need to be paid, if foster homes are full!

Noir is only a year old and very underweight – 15kgs when rescued – with dry flakey skin which is being treated. She is playful but shy, likes cuddles, gentle and calm and ok with other dogs. As she’s only just been rescued, she has yet to be microchipped etc. but this is in the pipeline.

Casey was really underweight at 13kg when she arrived. She is putting some weight on very slowly but because she was starved for so long she is on 4 small feeds a day until her system can cope with more food. She has more energy now and her health is improving daily..her temperament is brilliant on everything, she doesn’t have an issue with anything or appear to have a bad bone in her body.
