Toledo is a terrible place for galgos and podencos. Over the years I’ve reported on hangings of both and in one case Asociacion BaasGalgo took the hunter responsible to court. It costs a lot to operate a rescue shelter and volunteers are always required to look after the dogs, 24/7 7/7 and 365. The Toledo animal shelter Esperanza Animal Toledo shelter is sadly closing but some volunteers will continue the work rescuing hounds and keeping them in residencias and foster homes – which also costs.
