Another injured galga rescued from the streets of Spain!

The abandonment of galgos after the end of hunting does not stop…however much the rescue associations and the rest of us protest about the lack of control over the breeding and abandonment of their dogs by the Spanish hunters…the authorities do NOTHING! This galga was found injured and needing help. She has been named Carman.

‘We are appealing for funds to help Carmen, found on the streets and in need of veterinary care. The end of the hunting season has meant we have had to take in Podencos & Galgos in need, some of which have just been dumped on us. Our resources have been depleted, but Carmen tugged at our heart strings and thankfully the response to our appeal enabled us to pick her up.

From our initial assessment of her it looks like she has small bore gun shots wounds in various place, scars all over her body, her rear leg is very swollen and what is now an open wound on her shoulder. And despite it all …. she has the sweetest and most trusting of natures! These dogs always amaze us – can’t believe they still have faith in people!

She has now been to the vet for a full assessment of her wounds and health. She is going to need her wound seen to, antibiotics, blood tests, vaccinations and x-rays to see if she has gun shot pellets that need to be removed. After we have her on the road to recovery and she is fit and well she will need to be spayed prior to homing. Her treatment may prove costly. It’s a relief to us to get her safe. If anyone is able to make a donation towards her vet bill and food, donations can be made via PayPal to: alyreid@live.co.uk (please mark “for Carmen”)
