I’ve featured some of Ann Marie Payne’s poems on my blogs. Another volunteer in Spain saving and rehoming the unwanted hounds, including a podenca mum and her 5 pups living in a cave, which appeal I featured on Podenco Post. Now Ann needs help herself. She explains why below
‘Last year we were forced out of our premises, conned out of €1,800 and were left with nowhere to go. We did a fund raise and fortunately many people donated and helped us to move to where we are now, and at first it seemed like paradise. We had a wonderful summer and all the dogs were happy. But then came the winter, which was the worst in 10 years for rainfall. The kennels were flooding every day because there was nowhere for the rain to drain away. Every day I had to brush the water into buckets and then carry them outside and empty them on to the street. It was a total nightmare.
And then the rat problem appeared. At first it wasn’t too bad, but we are at the stage now where they are so brazen that they run around in broad daylight. Recently I found 3 dead in one of the dog’s water buckets. It really has just been awful. The landlord said that he would fix the problems, but he never has. So this has left me with no alternative but to move again.
Fot the last few months I have been improving a property which I am now renting, although I haven’t moved in yet. I’ve had new kennels built to add to the existing ones already there, and generally tidied up the grounds, and improved the living quarters. Ive installed electricity to the kennels, and improved the plumbing to both the house and kennels. I’m almost there, but totally skint now.
What I desperately need your help with is to make a quarantine/recovery area out of a partly built structure that was previously used for chickens. It really is in a delapidated state, and needs a lot of work. I can’t move in until I’ve got this sorted as I’ve got a poorly dog from the pound who has a contageous disease, and needs to be segregated from the others. This is a common occurance rescuing dogs from the pound, both for myself and, on behalf of charities/organisations that also want to help these dogs, and get them safe. Please help me raise this money to build the quarantine/recovery area, because without it I simply can’t carry on doing rescue work, which is my life, and more to the point, giving a sick dog the best chance of recovery. I’m under tremendous pressure to move out now, so the situation has become beyond urgentThis is my facebook page

And if you have got this far, thank you so much for reading my appeal, and if you wouldn’t mind. Please share.
