El Refugio de Leo is a non-profit association registered in the Registry of Associations of the Junta de Andalucía. Most of the people who care for it are volunteers who dedicate their time and effort to help and care for abandoned and mistreated animals in the Axarquia.
The animals we have stay with us until they find a home.
Our Mission is to welcome them, give them shelter and basic care such as food and hygiene, veterinary care, affection and prepare them for a second chance.
Leo’s Refuge survives thanks to membership fees, donations, sponsors and events organized by our volunteers.

We have reached 12,000 followers of our facebook page “EL REFUGIO DE LEO” and we have a great dream:
TO IMPROVE OUR SHELTER.
If each of our followers will donate at least 1 Euro (not even the price of a coffee) we would get money to make many necessary improvements in our shelter such as: putting shades (tents, awnings, sails…), painting cheniles, fixing damage
(roofs and walls), paying overdue bills (suppliers, vets, workshop…), water containers, fixing the van or even buying a second-hand one, various purchases (harnesses, leashes, medicines, special feed, beds, drinkers, feeders …etc) and many more things to improve the lives of our furry ones (cats and dogs).
