Besides the 2nd Manifestation in Strasbourg on Sunday 9th June, organised by C.R.E.L., there will be a simultaneous demonstration in Barcelona and Madrid.
Here’s what Anna Clements of SOS Galgos says, ‘This Sunday SOS Galgos will be demonstrating in solidarity with our friends outside the Palais des Congrès et de la Musique in Strasbourg. We are attending not only to demand the protection of Galgos but against the wider mistreatment of all dogs used for hunting.
Thank you to Europet who brought Polar to France. Ian and Sheila are really lovely caring people and their air conditioned transport is superb. Polar set off on Wednesday morning on his long journey from Pepis Refuge, Pedrera, across Spain. Here he is on a coffee break in Seville!
We met up with Europet at midday 7th June – I couldn’t believe how small he was! Such an adorable puppy. The Europet transport was full of rescue dogs from Portugal travelling to Germany to forever homes – Frankfurt and Berlin were their final destinations. We chatted about the terrible situation at Rogil for over 40 hunting dogs.

Kate lives in Spain and contacted me for help with a dog she had rescued. Animals have been an important part of her life. She is now dying. Why? She was prescribed a quinolone antibiotic. This story is a health warning about Quinolone antibiotics. This happened to Kate, it could happen to you.
Susan Dawson does wonderful work raising funds for small greyhound and galgo rescue associations. There’s still time to get your photo to her for her 2014 calendar raising funds for Pepis Refuge. She’s also appealing for people to sponsor food for the galgos and podencos at Pepis Refuge – Jane and Alan have a large number of dogs to feed and rely solely on donations. You can see the dogs and details of sponsorship on this link
Are you traveling between Madrid and New York or Madrid and Boston this year, even if it is just a layover in those cities as you continue on to somewhere else? If so, you can help save dogs! All you would need to do is let us attach a dog to your airline ticket! We’ll have volunteers on hand to do all of the work at both ends. We fly American from October to May and Iberia June to September. Drop us a line here or via email at diane@scoobymedina.com or info@scoobymedina.com for more information.
Please read and digest. ACTIN need the support of everyone to move forward in the ways suggested.
Whilst my main work is helping the refuges and associations involved with podencos and galgos, occasionally I feel driven to expose wrongs in the UK, from where I hail originally. This is one such occasion. First of all, please watch this video. Remember, this is 2013 in England – not 2013 in Asia! Afterwards, if you feel you want to take action against the perpetrators of these atrocities, please copy and paste the following letter into an email and send to the address given. (email to: animal.health@staffordshire.gov.uk) Thank you.
I know – another petition. But please sign and share widely. Bombarding the authorities in Spain keeps up the pressure on them and reminds them that the rest of the world will not go away, will not stop criticising them for not taking action against animal cruelty and abandonment. We have to keep protesting in whatever way we can. This is what the petition is about.
