    Yo Galgo comes to theaters in Spain and we would like to be there with you. Choose a cinema, from more than 120 throughout Spain, choose a day and create an event for the screening. If you want to talk about your project or organization before the movie, you will have half an hour to present your ideas in the cinema.

    This poor galga is now in the hands of the rescue Animal Libre Rescue. ‘The little one weighs only 14 kg and we are still is trying to clean all her skin for broods of ticks and fleas that were devouring her alive.You can see the open wounds open where she has been eaten alive, and also has a fractured tail.. who knows what he shad to suffer….

  • Terrified galgo barely able to stand – Animal Rescue have him safe

    You will not believe the state of this poor galgo, rescued from a Police Station in Spain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s on a video on facebook, link here if you can see it. For those who can’t he’s a walking skeleton, terrified, in fact a wonder he can even stand up on his own.

    ‘We have called him Leal (Loyal), after rescuing him in such a critical health status, in a cop station. We would like to thank the cops how well they have treated him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    We are already at the vet doing our best to save his life.

    Sadly there is one report of a galgo hung in a building near the centre of Badajoz in Extramadura. Badajaz has always been a hellhole for galgos. In this instance the galgo was chipped and the perpetrator of this vile act was traced and charged with animal cruelty.

  • Update on galgo Arkos – not good news

    Well, it’s been a day of surprises…. and not really very good ones at that! As you all know Arkos went in for what we thought was his surgery on his damaged hock. But, before going ahead, the Specialist decided he needed his own, more definitive X-rays of the the whole leg and… low and behold…a further, even older serious injury was discovered. So, in addition to the injury to the hock, this poor long suffering dog has also suffered a cruciate ligament injury (we don’t know when). This really needs to be done before the fractured Calcaneus procedure can be performed.

    So, following X-rays and tests today, Arkos will have the Cruciate Ligament surgery tomorrow and the op originally planned for today will be performed when the Cruciate Ligament procedure has had time to heal, in about 6 weeks time!

    Obviously, this is bad news in every way, but we feel that Arkos has suffered all his life and he deserves every chance to experience life as it SHOULD be for a loved Galgo, so we have made the decision to go ahead and use the money that has already been so kindly donated by many of you. We sincerely hope that everyone who donated won’t mind?

  • PACMA demand hunting in Castille y Leon be stopped

    The Spanish animalist party (PACMA) claims the protection of wildlife and takes legal action.

    The Hunting Act in Castilla y León (Spain) will be amended to “paralyze any hunting activity until further notice”. All this at the request of PACMA (Party of Animalists Against Animal Abuse).

    Laura Duarte, spokesperson of the Spanish animalist party, argued that the regulation in question does not comply with the European directive “habitat fauna flora”, which applies to all species. Therefore, “if it is not consistent, this paralysis should continue”.
