    Fundacion BM Conquita 400 5 20172 Spanish galgos at each end of the age spectrum…one just starting out on life and the other needing a comfy loving home and hearth to end his days. Both are with Fundacion Benjamin Mehnert in Seville. Contact them direct if you can help.

    A home for Conguita

    She was not yet two months old when she was found together with her mum abandoned on a field. We do not know what happened to her siblings but it is certain that Conguita is a survivor.

    Now her mum is adopted and Conguita is left alone. She needs urgently a family now, a shelter is not the best place for a puppy to grow up. The small girl is most affectionate and longing for a home.

  • Experiments on dogs in Australia – it must stop!

    Greyhound experiments Oz 400 5 2017We all know about the beagles used for laboratory experiments.There was also furore some years ago about galgos taken for embalming for a university medical school. Now here’s another exposure of greyhounds and galgos being used in Australia for experiments. I know…another petition to sign and do we know if it will be delivered? Well, if we don’t sign it, nothing will happen. If we do, it could be like one Galgos Ethique Europe collected, over 30,000 signatures handed into a Spanish embassy.

    According to the latest available statistics, over 6,600 dogs were used for research and teaching purposes in Australia in just one year, mainly beagles and greyhounds.

  • Please write and Protest – Channel 5 promotes bull fighting and bull running!

    Watching the Spectacular Spain with Alex Polizzi – can’t bear the woman but like to see the other side of Spain than the one I see on rescue visits – I was horrified to see the trail for next week showing and promoting bull fighting and bull running. So please write to Channel 5 and protest!

    Bull fighting is NOT a ‘sport’ nor ‘culture’..to see animals used /abused..tortured..to have their eyes covered in grease..so they cannot see..to have electric shocks to their …balls + Penis..to then be let out to the ‘baying morons’..where the Matador(the torturer!!!)then cuts the spinal cord at the base of its neck..so it cannot lift its head..+ the horses..ok with some sort of protective cover..that is useless..being gored under the stomach..ripped open for the crowds to also see..+ not a sound is made by these poor horses..their vocal cords have been cut!!

  • The Spirit of a Greyhound

    Galgo eyes 400 4 2017I came across this beautiful poem in some paperwork from Action For Greyhounds UK, based in Norfolk where I used to live before moving to France. Although it is about a greyhound, it could just as easily be the Spirit of a Galgo…or any other sighthound.

    GGGW-3hound-logo- 400The Great Global Greyhound Walk is an annual dog-walking event that brings together greyhounds, lurchers, other sighthounds and their owners to raise awareness of the breeds and show the public just what wonderful pets they make.

    Become a part of the Great Global Greyhound Walk family, join in the fun and help us beat previous years totals whilst promoting greyhounds and all their sighthound cousins.

    There are dozens of walks all over the UK, 3 walks in Germany, one in Ireland and one in France – organised by a friend of mine – and I’ll be there with my 3 Spanish Galgos and Spanish Podenca Andaluz, and several in the USA and Australasia.

  • Greyhound Rescue Holland – join the adoption team

    Greyhounds Rescue Holland is looking for fellow volunteers joined the adoption team.

    The adoption team mediates adoption of dogs (greyhounds and podencos) from the Spanish shelters. This means a lot of contact with the prospective adoptive parents and contacts of the Spanish shelters.

    Adoption Team volunteer is a tough job that depends intensity in terms of the number of applications running adoption. It is important that the work between the members of the adoption team is well distributed and that consulted regularly via whats app and phone.

    But asking volunteers to make a house call to potential adopters, assessing adoption applications and decide on part of this task.

    The adoption team always placed the interest of the dog first.
