  • Pro-Galgo urgently need help – please donate

Randy Pro-Galgo 08 2010 300 Does this break your heart or what? To see a beautiful affectionate loving galgo in this state! Luckily Pro-Galgo has come to his rescue. You can read his story and that of another galgo, plus a little Yorkie (whose owner died) on their website.

Pro-Galgo still has 5 of the 28 Jerez galgos in kennels, which costs, and now they have vet bills for these three dogs. They are out of funds. Please, if you can contribute towards any of these costs – 700 euros will cover the fees for microchipping, vaccination, castration – and a dental job on the Yorkie – donate through their website. However small the amount – even £10 or $10 or 10 euros – it will be greatly appreciated.

  • Podenca Maria, injured and surviving on the streets of Seville

Maria-10 Assn. ARCA Aug 2010 190 This little podenca is Maria, who was abandoned and has lived most of her life on the streets of a village near to Seville, too terrified to be caught. Searching for food amongst rubbish, dodging vehicles on the road, bearing puppies.

She was finally captured last month by an association ARCA, along with her 3 puppies. She has been hit twice by vehicles and has suffered a compression of the spinal cord which has resulted in a loss of feeling, and poor movement.

  • Camy, young injured galga – Pro-Galgo appeal for donations for vet fees

Camy Pro Galgo 07 2010 210 This is CAMY, a young, injured and very shy galga found near Seville. Thanks to Susi from Jerez and her friends who rescued her, the dog was operated on but unfortunatly the long fine screw which held together the hind leg moved inside the joint and caused the dog severe pain. The pain caused CAMY not to use her leg so the muscles atrophiated completely. So Camy had to go back into the vet clinic in Barcelona for further surgery.

Pro-Galgo desperatly need help with the payment of CAMY’s surgery as well as the financing of the Jerez galgos blood tests.

You can read more on this link plus details of how to donate to the vet fees.

  • The first Jerez (Cadiz) Galgos are safe – donations still needed for their vet treatment

Jerez galgos wanda-oma1 Pro Galgo 06 2010 220 Mo Swatek of Pro Galgo is happy to say that the first of the Jerez galgos are out and safe in Catalonia.

‘In a very fast trip of less than 36 h we went for the first load of the jerez galgos in danger to be pts. We brought 11 galgos (3 females and 8 males) plus 2 minpins. The mother had been abused as a breeding bitch and when not productive anymore given away, the baby could not be sold as in Spain people want very very young puppies and once over 4 month old, they are nearly impossible to sell. I had to take them because we were afraid that somebody adopts only the pup letting the old mum alone.

  • Pro-Galgos appeal – help save 28 galgos in Jerez killing station – URGENT!

Jerez killing station 06 2010 280 Hello from Spain (from Mo Swatek)

PRO-GALGO will go for the 28 galgos in Jerez killing station named GESSER but we need the money to pay the trip and the first vet care.

We have found already 13 foster families or refuges in Spain (as they are not ready to travel yet abroad) to help with the galgos but still 15 need to be taken in until ready for adoption.

We can go to pick them up in Jerez next week but we need about 800 eur for the transport and another 900 eur for the tests and vaccines (34 eur test per dogs, 8 eur for the 7x vaccines), and of course we need help for the general vet care later on.
