Update on Podenca Mary and introducing Galga Dana

Mary 1 Charl 08 2010 250 Mary has now been bathed, wormed, flea treatment, ticks removed, and taken to the vet – age estimated just 5-6 months old. See how tiny she is, sitting next to the laundry basket! Not surprisingly, she has no microchip. She has tested negative for leishmania, just waiting for the results for ehrlichia and filaria. These should be back in a couple of days, and then she will be vaccinated etc. Once this has been done, she will go to the kennels with Dana.

Dana 1 Charl 08 2010 250 Dana is a 2 yr old brindle galga, found abandoned and desperately thin on the streets of Malaga. She was in a refuge for a few months, seen by Charl and taken to the kennels for feeding up and rehoming. She has an undershot lower jaw but this doesn’t inhibit her in any way. She is boisterous and full of mischief, just needs a forever family, preferably with another dog.

Charl and 112 Carlota Galgos desperately need funds to pay for the kennel and vet fees. If you can help, please donate by Paypal to comdelrio@hotmail.com or bank transfer to

Another donation sent towards Mary’s care, who could resist that tiny little frightened face.
Well done Charl for going to so much trouble to save her.

Suzie your doing great. I sent a small one also but really wish it could have been more. Being the summer our refuge is jam packed, Ive never seen it this full. I’m hoping we can get Romeo to Beliguim in October, fingers crossed. Mary looks such a sweetie and is in the best hands now. Podencos are wonderful, we have one in at the moment and she really is a character. She was terrified at first but now she is full of beans. I hope Mary can react just as quickly. Well done Charl x

Tina, great news about Romeo, fingers crossed he gets to Belgium. Getting two boxes ready to send to your UK contact at the end of the month, to be brought to Spain. Now have 60 cards to send you, half handmade, plus fancy dog collars, soft toys, some perfumes, exotic soaps etc, hopefully this will raise some much needed money to help the galgos in the refuge.
