  • 2021 news from Protectora Scooby

    Scooby Ophelia 400 12 2021
Protectora Scooby have sent out a very interesting Christmas newsletter by email. As it is a Word document and I have to use Notepad for my posts on my blogs, here is a resume here for you all.

In 2021 they rescued around 700 dogs and homed 500 with adopters in Europe. They are also receiving more adoption enquiries now from families in Spin,, many enquiring about the smaller breeds and cross breeds so quite a welcome change in attitude to pet ownership in Spain.

The Scooby Foundation was launched which means they can appeal for company sponsorship. So it puts the chance of dog or cat food, medicinal supplies o building materials at a better price within their reach. The monthly bill for animal medicines along is 5,000 euros.

  • Animal Rescue Spain – galgo saved just in time!

    Hung galgo Santa 12 2021 1 400
Animal Rescue Spain is asking for donations.

Christmas Day he was saved, so we called him Santa. He is a galgo who a bloody galguero has tried to hang. Santa is a fighter who broke the rope and escaped with the rope around his neck. Santa was still strangling himself, but some wonderful women have managed to free him.

Santa arrived with fear of the human being, he will never forget that they tried to kill him, but we will heal his physical wounds, he is already on pain medication and antibiotics.

Help us with a donation if you can, we don’t stop rescuing abandoned animals and we need you.

  • Galgos Rescue Almeria – no end to the abandonment

    GRA 3 galgos 12 2021 400
No end to the abandonment of hunting dogs and it’s not yet the end of the hunting season in Spain!!

Galgos Rescue Almeria were alerted to these 3 abandoned souls and asked to take them if they could be caught.

People with a big heart for animals tried a few hours to gain their trust. Unfortunately they only saw 2 of them.
After some time they managed to save both ( one male / one female ). Hopefully the third one can also been saved, fingers crossed

Two of the three galgos who were wondering around in El Ejido area are safe now at GRA. First of all many thanks Nathalie and Patrick for not giving up on them and to bring them to our shelter. The nights are getting colder and it’s a very dangerous area so hopefully the third one shows up again and can be also be brought to safety.

  • Galgos Rescue Almeria – 2 galgos handed in by their hunter

    2 galgos from hunter 400 1 29 11 2021
From Sandy at Galgos Rescue Almeria.

‘Last weekend the owner of these 2 galgos came by to ask if we wanted to take them over. These 2 males have been used to run but after only 1 year of service they are no longer useful. What we already feared, of course money is being asked for them. GRA wants a new and different life for both boys, therefore all help / support is welcome to buy and take over the dogs from their owner. They also going need bloodtest/ vaccinations/ castration

‘These two galguitas belong to a group of rescued dogs in Andalusia. The poor things are terrified… I hope they soon realize that not all humans are evil, but also there are those who say kind words and caress.
