  • Email Boris Johnson – Stop Walthamstow Greyhound Racing!

URGENT ACTION NEEDED ~ Please email Boris Johnson ~ (address on link)

Please email Boris Johnson, the current Mayor of London, presently campaigning for re-election and request he withdraws his support for the return of greyhound racing and the gambling on dogs to Walthamstow in East London. Please also ask for his assurances that the industry will not receive funding from central government to subsidise the declining and cruel dog racing industry.

  • Federacion Andaluz de Galgos – let’s all tweet for the tortured galga!

Re the galga tortured, burned, babies stolen. This suggestion is on Save the Galgo on Facebook. Let’s all do it! ‘Maybe it would be an idea to tweet to the Federacion de galgos andalucian directly at @FAG43 and keep on confronting them with pictures and abusive situations like this. Organisations can be blocked, but no individuals. They have recently opened a twitter account. Maybe we can shut them down again…

http://www.federacionandaluzadegalgos.com/. Look at their page, click on their twitter and let’s get going.
NB I don’t understand tweeting, so please can someone explain what to do, do you click on ‘tweet’ and then write a message, or what?

  • Murder in Linares, Jaen – write to your Spanish Embassy to protest

ArcoNatura Linares: “battered and burned in Linares, this galga was found on 25th April 2012… This is what people do with a galga in Linares (Jaén).” A harmless galga, battered and burned alive. Volunteers Arconatura llevabamos were trying to catch her, had a place for her, knew she was pregnant. They went in search of her to try and catch her and this is what they found. There was no trace of the puppies, babies cut from her and taken for who knows what.

This is the reality of Spain- we need the world to see how inhuman have people become!

The Spanish government keeps saying these things don’t happen any more(!) but in our experience they happen just as much as before mainly because of the general indifference of both the authorities and the citizens and also the lack of strong laws to protect the animals.

Please write to the Spanish embassy in your country, attach these photos and tell them you will not be visiting Spain until they protect the animals. Thank you. PACMA

  • Murcia, abandoned and birthing on a rubbish tip

Day after day, the horror of life for abandoned dogs in Spain continues. Here’s a film with a happy ending – a galga giving birth on a rubbish tip. Galgos del Sol to the rescue.

  • Spain in Uproar – King Juan Carlos – King of Spain – King of SHAME

The king was actually about to go to Botswana to hunt elephants. He then fell and broke his hip. Let’s hope he falls and breaks his other. Little hope for animals in Spain when the King goes abroad and pays more than 30.000 euros to kill an Elehpant.

It’s on the news at the moment. A polemic palava of which government parties are against so they can score points, the PP don’t want to say anything, as more priority is the economic situation of Spain. Barcelona is against it; they will do anything to be against Spain, but no-one seems to care about the animal, nor what its ‘murder’ resembles. Apparantly it was a visit organised in secret. So… While the people of Spain are starving, and elsewhere in the world, and while animals are dying, the King os Spain spends tax payers money on hunting elephants. Where’s the justice?

SIGN THE PETITION Tell the king of spain to stop hunting animals of extinction.

  • A bird’s eye view on Spain, animals and owners!

Prohitited_to_Abandon_250 PosterI’ve received this thought-provoking article on a view of life in Spain at the moment.

Spain is a country which is on now its knees. It’s gone from dictatorship, to good presidency and bringing a country up on form and being recognised as a good place to be. From there, the previous government to the current one (voted in December 2011) brought bad practices into its own when they took over. The country became run down, the people suffer, but as always, the politicians walk away with clean hands and a tidy pension until death. To compound the negative results of that government’s actions, Spain was hit with the Global crisis.
