  • Galga Arial with Galgo’s Rescue Almeria – having a tough time

    GAR Arial 400 20 10 2020
This lovely white galga arrived at Galgo’s Rescue Almeria at the end of September, with a huge growth on her belly. She was spayed and the hernia removed at the same time.

Unfortunately it didn’t heal well, as Sandy explains.

‘9th October – This morning we noticed that Arial’s wound was open again. We went straight to the clinic where she got immediately a first surgical procedure. The vet determined that the growths at the bottom of her belly had grown back a bit. So tomorrow a new procedure to remove the diseased tissue and re-stitch the wound again. Arial will have to stay at the clinic for a few days after the procedure to keep an eye on the wound.

20th October – Yesterday we visited Arial at the clinic. She already had 3 operations but the wound doesn’t seem to close properly. Our poor girl looks sad, it’s been a long time she’s in the clinic now. If the wound stops bleeding she can finally come home end of this week. Due to the severity of the wound and to prevent a possible infection, Arial will be taken care of in a home situation.

Do you remember Nico, the galga rescued in poor condition from a beach in Almeria. She has recovered well in the hands of Galgo’s Rescue Almeria and is now reserved for her forever home.

Sandy says, ‘This is Nico, she is a long-haired galgo of 3 years old. Nico came to GRA in very bad circumstances, she was skinny, bald on her ears and was covered in fleas / sign. She tested negative for Erlichia / Anaplasma and Filaria but positive for Leish. She already received treatment with Milteforan that is finished and is now 2 tablets twice a day. This amazing girl has been fully vaccinated, chip / European passport and sterilized. Nico has a sweet character and other dogs are doing fine.’

This means two more expressive advances for animal protection, and the ONLY list for GALGOS.
    .
◆ We are deeply grateful to Ricardo Izar, Weliton Prado and Frank Alarcón who accepted the anguished pleas for two greyhounds and greyhounds that are cruelly explored for greyhound hares at their speed to obtain a profit in money.
    .
◆ I attached two days atuais no lutava for a law to prohibit barbarians advinced that you “donos de cães de corrida” chamavam de esporte for “athletes by nature”.
    .
◆ They, you galgueiros, are not bothered when botam focinheiras nas fêmeas, surely between 03 or 04, tie five homens, and commit rape as a male that is a reproducer.
    .
◆ They are never disturbed by a government body, or an animal defense entity, when injecting drugs is reserved for us as championship athletes.
    .
◆ Galgueiros will never feel bad to abandon the velhos e velhas, the doentes, the broken, the broken and the bruised. This is because we always houveram people who are imported and who bring us homeless.
    .
◆ I read the only way to end up with the practice of cruelty that impõem against the greyhounds.

  • Galgo’s Rescue Almeria – rescued in poor condition from a hunter

    GRA 3 galgos black 400
From Sandy at Galgo’s Rescue Almeria

‘Last week we collected 3 Galgos, GRA wants to thanks Tracey Smith for convincing the hunter to sign them over. All three are very skinny and the 2 adults have a lot of wounds and some skin problems.

We were a little bit worried for their blood results, so we went directly to the vet . All 3 got a first medical checkup. The 2 adults are blood tested, the boy is negative for Leish/ Erlichia/ Anaplasma and Filaria the girl also negative for Leish/ Erlichia/ Filaria but positive for Anaplasma. She need a treatment with doxiciclina for 28 days. The puppy, we gave her the name Olivia, got also a checkup. Because she’s also under weight she only received her booster vaccination/ chip/ European passport.

Luckily all 3 are safe now and a new future is waiting for them.

All support/ help is welcome to cover medical costs.
