  • Galgo’s Rescue Almeria – small shelter saving the galgos and podencos

    ‘GRA is active for 3 years now. After many disappointments and deception by false prophets who pretend to be animal lovers with the motto: “everything for the dogs” while their real motives are: “everything for our own benefit and profit”, we are now surrounded by the right people with the right intentions and we can give many dogs a new and better life.

    But to save dogs and provide them with the necessary care and medical treatment to adopt them, money is needed, a lot of money.

    As a small shelter it’s a daily struggle to survive and we depend on donations.

  • Scooby Galgo Adam hoping for a forever after

    ‘If there is one dog with a lot of bad luck it is Adam. First he was abandoned by his owner and left in the perrera municipal of Valladolid where Scooby has taken him out of course, so that was a bit of good luck actually. Once here we took a bloodsample and it showed that he is leishmania positive and that means double bad luck because people seem to be more afraid of leishmania than for corona although one little tablet Alopurinol a day keeps the vet away. It is not contagious, not for other animals and neither for people and they can become really old with this.

    But now he probably has to wait a long time before he gets adopted IF he ever gets adopted because he’s a black galgo! And this super sweet and gorgeous handsome boy really deserves a lot better than being in a kennel for the rest of his life!.

  • Protectora Scooby to the rescue again

    Faith and Negrita, 2 terrified galgas recently arrived at Scooby Medina. Now in foster, and in a very short time they are no longer just fearful, they are recovering their confidence. They are both reserved with the ADL Association.

  • Galgos del Sol – saving the hounds in Murcia

    ‘A family underground, a puppy with 5 legs and a mum thats been on the streets for years. A rescue that started Friday midday and finished sunday 1am, everyone exhausted.

    A huge thanks again to Maria Jose HM and her husband as always for the relentlessness in catching these dogs, to Kenny who’s here from Scotland and was ready to get his hands dirty and covered in ticks and to Manuel who came and helped late last night as unfortunately I didn’t feel well and had to leave.

    Must not forget to thank the on-site GDS team as without their dedication right now we could not take such an overflow of dogs, it’s a lot of hours everyday making sure they are all well and have all they need. It’s a huge amount of team work every time with something like this and we appreciate you all.

    ‘Culebra is a 7-year-old girl, she came together with Ponderosa to GRA. Both girls come from the same hunter, and despite their undoubtedly tough past they are already very social, friendly and affectionate.

    Culebra is fully vaccinated and tested negative for Leish, Dirofilaria, Erlichia and Anaplasma.

    She has had a life of 7 years of hunger, fear and hardship, who wants to give her at least as many years of warmth, love and friendship?
