Galgo Bracken’s story – Murcia to France to his forever family in the UK
We took my last foster boy Bracken to his forever home in the Uk at the beginning of October. Here’s a video of his story. I’m pleased to say he has settled in well with his 3 canine companions, one of which is a 3-legged greyhound. Have a happy life, Bracken.

Galga Gaby – discovering the delights of life in the UK
Do you remember Gaby, one of my foster dogs? It took 2 months to catch her – she was living rough in tunnels underneath a road – luckily she didn’t have any puppies. I fostered her whilst her UK Pet Passport was prepared and she went to her forever home in the UK in February.
Here’s a couple of photos of her enjoying a run in the park – Suzie says this particular day Gaby discovered the river and it took a lot of effort to get Gaby back to dry land, she loved the water so much! Wish all galgos could find a loving home like this.

Escape from Jerez killing station – forever together in the UK
In the middle of December I posted one of many appeals about galgos dumped in Jerez perrera for killing – the Spanish hunting season was only half over! An email arrived in my Inbox from a lady in the UK who had her eye on one of the galgas and asking if I could arrange contact with someone nearby Jerez/Cadiz who could rescue her. As I’d already asked for a young one to be rescued for me, wheels were set in motion. The galgas were reserved – 3 and a puppy, and 112carlotagalgos travelled to the perrera to collect the dogs.
One of them, beautiful Risa, came to me for foster and rehoming – she is now with a lovely lady in northern France. Sadly the puppy became very ill and died. Holly, as the cream galga was named, was put into kennels, as was the other galga – who was very timid and lacking in confidence.

Things to do with galgos! Sod the galgueros who wanted to kill ours
a light-hearted note – we went to a dog show last weekend. foster dog bracken won ‘best hunting dog’ – his uk passport is ready early september – and sahara and i won ‘dog looks most like its owner’ – poor sahara limped into the ring wondering why her leg was bandaged!
bracken was rescud injured by galgos del sol, sahara was saved from the cordoba killing station by l’europe des levriers – both under 2 years old at the time.

Rocki’s story – a galgo mix adopted in Germany
All too often, when bitches are abandoned, they come on heat and are covered by whatever male dogs get on their scent. They give birth and the litter can be a mixture of galgos and galgo mixes.
This is the story of one of those galgo mix puppies. Adopted from a Spanish shelter under the wings of Canispro, it’s a delightful tale of Rocki’s new life in Germany.

Galgos Rocky and Marlo – from Jerez killing station to forever in the USA!
Here’s a lovely rehoming story – it’s amazing how rescued galgos cope with so many changes in their lives – different languages as they change countries, travelling hundreds of kilometres to new lives, flying across the Atlantic, then flying on again, across America!
Introducing Rocky and Marlo, rescued from Jerez killing station, cared for by Galgos Connection Spain, rehomed in the US.
Telma Shaw of GRIN says, ‘Here is the first picture of Rocky and Marlo, the Jerez boys that just arrived in the USA!!
