  • Podenco Barajas settles into his forever home – a happy ending

Barajas 7 11 2010 250 Here’s an update on podenco Barajas, who was with Silvia in Valencia. He is now happy in his forever home in Holland, here’s the news from his adoptants.

    ‘Hi everybody,
Here are some photos of Barajas. He is doing GREAT. You can see that his scare is changing into curiosity. This morning he came out of his basket on his own (yesterday we had to lift him). He let us caress him without looking away and lowering his ears. I don’t think he will take much time to get used to the habits of the house and the other dogs. They have already taught him a “bad” habbit and that is to lay on the sofa……

  • Greyhound Rescue Holland help galga Dana find her forever family

You may remember Dana, the rescued galga who became very stressed in kennels. Through a contact in Greyhound Rescue Holland, she has now found a wonderful forever home. Here’s what her new Mom says.

‘Dana is already changing a lot inside and outside. In the beginning she was frightened of bicycles, not of motorbikes or cars, but this is improving. She walks perfectaly on the lead, when I stop, she stops and when I continue, she continues. She is still afraid of men although she doesn´t hide anymore, just barks at them. When my husband is at home she walks around with no problem and he can caress her without problem and she accepts biscuits from him, so that is improving as well. She is especially fond of me and she likes the children a lot.

  • Have you rehomed a galgo or podenco you saw on Galgo News?

If so, I’m collecting stories of galgos and podencos which Galgo News readers have adopted through seeing appeals on the website, or via associations which they read about on Galgo News.

It would be marvellous if you could write between 750-1,000 words about what you know of the dog’s background, how you found out about the dog, how the dog made the journey to you, and their character now they are with you.

Don’t worry if it goes more than that, I can always precis. And thank you a million times for those of you who have taken into your home one of the innocents of the Spanish hunters. Email me on band@bbrennan.eu before the end of September 2010
