If you have read ‘About Me’, you’ll know that my passion for greyhounds began over 15 years ago when we lived in rural Suffolk, England, and a stray greyhound turned up at our home.  In those days, there wasn’t so much publicity about what good pets a greyhound makes, and so the shelters I contacted said they had too many greyhounds, they didn’t want to take another one.

Damn and Blast the Spanish Galguerros to Hell

Why?

Because they caused my beautiful innocent loving affectionate galga to die. No matter what I and my vet did, she suffered, because of the damned galguerro.

Why?

Because she was born in Spain, under uncontrolled indiscriminate breeding by a Spanish galguerro. He didn’t care what he was breeding, he just wanted to breed galgos….whether he bred from healthy bitches or not……………he didn’t give a damn. He’d get rid of the dog anyway, abandon it, drop it down a well, burn it alive, hang it from a tree ……he didn’t care.

If I Didn’t Have a Dog

I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.

My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.

All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.

When the doorbell rings, it wouldn’t sound like a kennel.

I had some bad news this week, yet another French galgo rescue association has been formed! Do you know how many French galgo rescue associations there are – at the last count today 22…22! And they very rarely work together. How efficient is that?! Ok, so I’m commenting as a Brit living in France, but at least the British greyhound rescue associations and actions groups co-ordinate and work together.

I’ve researched how many galgo rescue associations there are in Europe to date:

Holland 2
Belgium 5
Italy 1
Germany 1
Switzerland 2

France 22 need I say more?

Last month I ran a report from the Bright Eyes Society about a forthcoming court case on Ibiza against a Spaniard who had more than 50 podencos running loose. The case was due to be heard earlier this week.

Bright Eyes Society now report that the case has been postponed in order for the accused to undergo psychological tests. A forensic woman has stated that he is mentally ill for “this case” In other words, that only in regards to animal mistreatment he is “crazy”! As this conclusion has been arrived at by someone who has no competence to deliver it, the accused will now be examined by professionals.
