  • Galgo Ebro – beating the odds to heal a broken body and soul

These two videos are of Ebro, an example of the incredible will to live which lies within the galgos in Spain. Two broken front legs, put back together by vet Paco, nursed and cared for by the del Rio family. this is why we help the galgos, and why 112carlotagalgos needs your help – without your donations they couldn’t keep helping these galgos regain the will to live and become family pets. Spring will soon be with us and thoughts turn to getting away from the miserable wet winter. Why not go to Spain and help in an animal shelter. Accommodation is provided and your help will be greatly appreciated. Here’s some suggestions.

  • Portugal Dog Rescue – Duke now in rehab with 112carlot

Whilst I was in Spain for Xmas, I spent a few days at 112carlotagalgos and got to meet Duke, son of Estrela who I fostered for a short while before taking her to her forever home in the UK. He is now looking stunning but is still very nervous and retreats to his bed or the other end of the orchard whenever someone enters. Here you can see an update on how he is doing with Charl’s special touch.

  • Happy 9th Birthday – Galgo Rey!

ReyThis is Rey a King among Galgos. Charl wrote a poem in tribute to him. Many of you will know Jennifer, always ready to comment on my posts. She adopted Rey.

She’s a wonderful supporter of the hounds – car boot sales every week to raise funds for the dogs, raffled hampers at Xmas – her fundraising never ceases. She’s a lady who says it as it is – no problem with that. So I’m pleased to publish here her tribute to her adored galgo Rey, adopted from 112carlotagalgos.

Hip Hip Hooray – Rey is 9 years young today! Never thought I’d make it this far but thanks to my rescuers and thanks to Jen, I’ve been given a chance to live again.

SO, Mr Hunter – watch this space – I’m happy and loved, so in your face!

  • Discarded by the galguero – rescued in Malaga

Three galgos thrown over a fence into Maria’s garden – at danger of being stolen again for selling on…so they were put into kennels in Malaga for 112carlotagalgos until there is room at the finca for them. • Chained galga starving to death – now fighting to live

Charl Adina carrying 250 12 2013This is galga Adina – chained up, no food, no water, left to starve to death. Rescued and taken immediately to the vet and kept in the clinic for a few days to monitor. Now she is safe with 112carlotagalgos. Charl tells the story – briefly

‘I now introduce you to Princess Adina!

Survival is her wish. Her longing to live through the darker days held her… brought her to this.. home.

At the moment we’re not testing her .. everything seems to be working ok for the moment. Bowels and urine. But she will be watched. Tests of the usual would only be false at this time. So recuperation is what she needs. Rest. Food. Rest. Food.

She longed to live.. here she is. Welcome to finca 112 Carlotagalgos special girl.

Embraced by chains.. you have been released. We have prayed for you. For strength to see a new day.. It’s yours to take now.. day by day. Little by little.. you will see your forever.’

Vet fees are already mounting, plus special food costs – please donate by paypal to comdelrio@hotmail.com.

  • A heart for galgo Prince – have you room for him in yours

Charl Prince 250 10 2013Stunning boy Prince has been at 112carlotagalgos for many months, partly because he was very ill when he arrived and he needed time to get well. Here’s what Charl writes about him.

    RE.INTRODUCING PRINCE FOR ADOPTION!

Due to circunstances out of Princes control He is now back “in adoption!”

I will never forget the day I saw Prince’s case. The way his beauty coupled with best buddy Odie stole my heart. I thought ‘someone will rescue you, you’re stunning. Only 2 days in the perrera to go before killing and I’d decided if his case came around again I’d take them. Sure enough meant to be, it did. And I did.
