  • SOS Galgos, Barcelona – saving and rehoming galgos

SOS Galgos English website 250 4 2012SOS Galgos in Barcelona have now got their new website in English. Click on this link – if it takes you to the Spanish website, just click on the Union Jack at the top of the page. They are still working on completing the information on some pages.

You will see their claim – 160 galgos abandoned every day, that’s 58,400 galgos every year – so much for those people who have said to me ‘you exaggerate’ when I say 50,000. SOS Galgos is based in Barcelona city, in the veterinary clinic of Albert, which is where the operations – shown in the photos – were carried out.

  • Calling all associations to Mazarron, Murcia – 40 galgos and pods starving to death

Gypsy galgos Mazarron 250 4 2012Galgos del Sol, La Forteleza and Andreas Animal Rescue are returning this evening to the gypsy camp at Mazarron where it has been discovered that he has more dogs there. There are over 40 galgos and podencos hidden in dark holes with no food or water. He has already had a 4,000 euro fine from Seprona, but they do not stop him taking on more dogs. These are just being left to starve to death.

La Forteleza,GdS and AAR,all agree that these dogs are in a far worse state than the Bullas pods and galgos. They desperately need help from other charities to try and get these dogs out. This is the same man that had the 70 galgos and pods that were rescued earlier this year.

Why does an association not take this man to court? Baas Galgo does, in Madrid and Toledo. I can understand the local associations being nervous because this bastard will know where they live, their children, their cars. He and his cronies could target them. But surely there is another association which could take further steps. Surely not all the Seprona and local judges are hunters who buy dogs off this man?
