Holidays in Toledo – hotels in Toledo……
You may remember Caramelo, dying underneath a tree in a village near Toledo. Rescued by Baas Galgo and now transforming into the beautiful galgo he is. This is another one found in the same village outside Toledo. He’s been named Sugus. Here’s what Baas Galgo say.
‘Cursed is the man who has deny you his support during the days that you are in these conditions. Leticia has stopped the car and has picked you up, you were walking this morning under a downpour, you were shivering, frightened, killed by the pain, wandering aimlessly…….. bastard who threw you away!

Hounding Misery part 3 – Nano Calvo
Here is the third part of the articles written by Nano Calvo. Link here for part 2 and part 1 . A couple of points – running dogs from motor vehicles is again law in Andalucia – the Junta voted to reinstate it in 2011. The trainer also displays the arrogance of the hunting and racing fraternity – the unwanted dogs will be adopted in other countries! Still these people refuse to deal with the issue of overbreeding and mass abandonment. Beautiful photos by Nano Calvo.

Sick and starving on the streets of Seville –
Little Nana, a tiny galga pup, was found in this miserable state near Seville. She has very severe sarcoptic mange, totally anaemic, high fever and covered with infected wounds all over her little body…. GLORIA an animal lover asked Pro-Galgo for help and they redirected her to their friend and collaborator, vet FATIMA in Seville. Little NANA is on a drip, will have a blood transfusion from another galgo and will stay at least overnight in the clinic. Barely 6 months old, she is fighting for her life. Everyone hopes she will make it. If you can donate to her vet fees, please contact Pro-Galgo.

120 galgos/podencos in Murcia – Pro-Setter organise the rescue
This video shows the conditions in which the dogs were kept; you will see some chained to walls, holes in the ground where they sleep, puppies….
Tina Solera of Galgos del Sol says, ‘Pro-Setter Spain is co-ordinating the rescue. On 2nd March La Fortaleza, GdS, Andreas Animal Rescue & The Henrietta Foundation joined forces to rescue some of these dogs. Between us we took 14 out. The Henrietta Foundation has been a real rock to GdS throughout this rescue and the camp rescue. We could not do it without them. Pro-setter are co-ordinating this rescue, please contact them if you can take any dogs. They are doing a great job.’

It seems to me that the abandoned dogs problem is Spain is qorse this year than ever…I’ve not reported on situations like the 74 in Murcia, then another 120 in Murcia, plus the 150 in Cuenca…..and that’s not counting the hundreds in the perreras. And now more. A galga and a podenco on the streets of Jerez, Cadiz. The galga looks pregnant. Can anyone squeeze them in somewhere? Contact Maribel maribeljerezsos2@gmail.com
